With POP3 the e-mail is stored on your computer, while with IMAP the e-mails are stored on the server. I prefer IMAP myself since I can access my e-mail from multiple devices.

Either you have the server name incorrectly setup in Outlook Express, or your internet connection is down currently. Check with your ISP to fix this problem.

SOURCE: OE error says host pop3 cannot be found

You're pop3 server has 2 names, the incoming mail server name and the outgoing mail server name.
The names are usually written like for example; "incoming.verizon.net" and "outgoing.verizon.net" or like: "pop.gmail.net" and "smtp.gmail.net".
For your ISP find out what the server's names and install them in the appropriate spots -Spelling counts (capitalization does not count)!!!! Observe where the periods go also.

Good Luck!

It looks as if the server name is not complete. where is your email coming from? you'll need to know that and the email server (for example: mail.ptd.net for penteledata customers). Or, pop.gmail.com for gmail users. Get that server, then go into your account settings and put the server name into the Incoming Server blank. once you do that and save it (also make sure your outgoing server is correct) you should be fine.

When I read my e-mail on my computer it still shows that it is not read on my Iphone. Vice-versa, when I read my e-mail on my Iphone it shows on my computer it is not read and I end up re reading e-mails...

The problem is most likely that your phone is receiving email using POP3 rather then IMAP or an Exchange server. To solve this problem simply set up your email account using either the Exchange Server or IMAP option. You should note however that your email provider must support these in order for you to use them, in the event that they do not support them you have no option but to use POP3.

E-mails are multiplying on their own, I can not delete them

There is a problem with how the POP3 connector processes certain
messages downloaded from a POP3 server. This problem could result in
the POP3 connector accidentally re-sending certain messages to
recipients who are not part of the SBS server e-mail domain.
This may happen only in the cases where the POP3 connector is used to
download mail from an external POP account. Customers using Exchange
to host their mail internally will not experience this problem. This
update resolves this issue.
All SBS customers are encouraged to install this update.

I get this message on my computer that says 'Your Microsoft Exchange Server is Unavailable." How do I make it available?

By the sounds of it you are using Outlook 2007 or 2010
to download your email from sites like hotmail and Yahoo you need POP3 not Exchange. Exchange is a Microsoft Email server used by companies.

to remove the exchange section in outlook you need to go to the "Configuration Panel" then click on "Mail" in there you will have a profile called "Outlook" click on "Email acounts" and remove the item that says "Exchange" then click "Add " tick the box "Manually selct settings" select POP3 and add the details for your email as per their instructions

Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot Open the Outlook window. The Server is not available. Contact your administrator if this condition persists error message when I click on the office icon.

It looks as if your outlook is set to look for a Microsoft Exchange Server. If this is the case check the settings are correct.
If you are not using Exchange then you will need to change the server type to your POP3 mail server.

If you have problems post a reply.

Ok, email can be setup using a bunch of different protocols. The difference is how directly you phones data and the data on the server interact. POP and IMAP are methods for receiving email from the server, to send they use a protocol called SMTP. With POP3, email is all downloaded to your phone and saved there, with IMAP you only download the headers (...a header is like the back cover of a book). An Exchange server can do SMTP with either POP or IMAP, but when it says configure for Exchange - it means actually connecting to the mail server and integrating contacts, calendar items, email, like the Outlook client on your Windows machine. This is obviously much more server intensive and requires special permissions to do.

POP and IMAP will require the following information to work. Your login name, your password, your server, and whether the connection is secure. To find these out you can go to your coporate webmail. The user name is what you put in the user login spot, as is the password, the server will usually be either mail followed by a dot and the second half of your email address, or the web URL for the mail server...if the web access page address starts "https" then the connection is most likely secure.
