Battery packs on Dyson V6 models are usually good for about 3-4 years. If yours is not holding a charge, I would first suggest replacing the battery pack. Also, I do not see any reason as to why not using it often would affect the battery life since these models are made to be able to stay on the charger for long periods of time without damaging the battery itself. If replacing the battery doesn't help, I suggest consulting with a technician. I hope this helps.
Sorry to hear about your problem. Leaving it plugged in all the time does not allow the batter to discharge to a low level for recharging. The battery develops a memory and will not function well. Recharging the battery after using it is better for longer battery life. Please review the instruction manual and follow the manufacturer's recommendations.
You will need to replace the battery pack (or recycle and buy another) unless you are in Ireland where you have a 6 year guarantee and can get the shop you bought if from to arrange repair or replacement. Proof of purchase is required but not necessarily the receipt.
I'm sorry to hear your V6 has stopped charging. If you're charging your machine with the charger cord attached to the docking station, please check the charger cord is firmly and correctly attached at the top of the docking station. If it's out of position, it's possible the charger plug isn't making correct contact with the machine itself.
If you've ruled this out, we'd appreciate the opportunity to talk you through some further quick diagnostic checks. It sounds as if your machine should be well within our 2-year guarantee, so if a repair or a replacement part is needed, I'm sure we can help.
When you have your machine easily to hand, please call the Dyson Customer Helpline on 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) 1800 239 766 (AU), or 0800 298 0298 (UK).
If it's only 2 weeks old, you could have a defective either charging system or just a bad battery. Most places offer free replacement within 30 days of purchase. I would take it back to your place of original purchase. I hope that helps!
I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your Dyson V6. To help you resolve this, we'd need to take a few further details to help us pinpoint the cause of the issue.
