Under the mower below the seat of the rider, at the rear of the tractor, look up and you will find the transmission there. There is a belt that runs on the pulley under there, and this belt can slip off when it gets worn or stretched. Sort of a tough spot to get to but, that is most probably cause.

Let me know,

Husqvarna YTA18542 is running well, but only in reverse. I have checked all the fixes I could find, but was wondering about the release switch that

It's possible that the loose release switch could be causing the issue with the mower only running in reverse. When the release switch is not properly engaged or disengaged, it can cause the mower to think it is in neutral, which may prevent it from moving forward. You may want to try tightening or adjusting the switch to see if it helps.
However, there could also be other issues with the transmission or drive system that are causing the problem, so it's important to thoroughly check all components and consult the manual or a professional if necessary.

Lawn tractor won't go forward or reverse

If the engine is running normally and the drive belt between the engine and the transmission is in good shape, most likely you have a failed hydrostatic transmission.

Make sure the brake pedal is fully depressing. Check the linkages for the forward / reverse and brake pedal. Check for grass build up causing the linkages to bind.
