I need a CCD for my Nikon Coolpix 8700

I have a Nikon 8700 with a faulty CCD that has to be replaced according to my technician.

Where could I buy the part? Nikon does not reply my e-mails.

My technician is excellent. He fixed my Lumix and my second 8700 without any problem.

I have dust or lint on the inside of my Coolpix S710, resulting in spots on the images how do I clean this, alternatively is it possible to pull the camera apart

Hi,

This is highly suggestive of faulty CCD sensor. Unfortunately, repair would be more expensive than buying a new camera. You could read more about CCD sensor from :-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_sensor

CCD sensor is responsible for capturing the images to your camera.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

When I connect my Nikon Coolpix 8700 to my Windows XP Pro, Windows does not detect the camera.

Having gone a month without a response, I assume using a card reader solved the problem.

Problem with nikon coolpix 8700

Same problem that would not allow me to take a picture without pressing the LOCK button on my Nikon 8700. Here is how I believe I fixed the problem:

Turn the camera ON.

Press MENU button on your camera to bring up the menu.

Scroll down to SET-UP, open the SET-UP menu by scrolling right.

In the SET-UP menu, scroll all the way down to FUNC (Controls) on page 2/3 , open the FUNC (Controls) menu by scrolling right.

You are now presented with 2 options:FUNC and AE-L, AF-L)

Select the FUNC option by right scrolling.

Choose the 2nd option: i.e the mountain, flower and timer icon (distance, macro and self-timer icon) by right scrolling.

Press the MENU button to get out of the menu.

Attempt to take a picture without pressing LOCK.

Should work! Anyways, it worked for me.

Cheers.

Horizontal lines on image

This is not a solution , but only a work around. If you do at least 1/3 zoom on your lens before clicking a photo, these lines will not appear. But this not not a convenient way I agree.
Also this surely means that the CCD is not the problem otherwise it would have never worked ( electronic parts cant simply dont start to work when you zoom ringht ? ). Surely Nikon is fixing the issue, but cheating the customers by charging for a part is not defective in the first place

No image

Bad news is that it is CCD sensor that seems faulty ( and only way to repair this fault is to replace the CCD block ) but the good news is that Nikon repairs this problem free of charge on this model even if your warranty has expired. Contact Nikon and have a new CCD sensor installed.
