  1. Access the Settings Menu: Depending on your band, press the dedicated settings button, swipe left or right on the touch screen, or use the corresponding app on your smartphone to access the settings menu.
  2. Find the Time Settings: Look for an option related to time settings, which may be labeled as "Time," "Clock," or "Settings."
  3. Set the Time Format: Choose the desired time format, such as 12-hour or 24-hour format.
  4. Set the Hour: Use the navigation buttons or touch screen to adjust the hour. Some bands may allow you to tap on the hour to cycle through the available options.
  5. Set the Minutes: Similarly, use the navigation buttons or touch screen to adjust the minutes.
  6. Set the Seconds (optional): If your band allows, you can also set the seconds by following similar steps as above.
  7. Save or Confirm: Once you have set the desired time, save or confirm the changes by pressing a dedicated button, tapping on a checkmark or confirmation icon, or following the on-screen instructions.
  8. Sync with Smartphone (if applicable): If your band syncs with a smartphone app, make sure the time on your smartphone is accurate, and sync the band with the app to ensure the time is updated.

No sound.

Read the manual. The radio may have been set to some defaults, although the time was not correct. When you started setting the time, it is possible that you should have run through the whole setup. For example some radios have different ranges for the FM bands: there is a Japanese band that starts at 76 MHZ, and ends at 108 MHz; there is the standard FM band from 88 MHz to 108 MHz; and a school band (I can't remember its range).
For AM the gap between neighboring positions may be set at 9 kHz or 10 kHz depending on the location (region or continent).
I suggest you get the manual and see if there is an initial setup procedure, then follow it.

I have an Eton G3 recently purchased which has an operators manual, but does not contain any references to the layout of the buttons etc. I would like a link to find out the correct use of the radio

The buttons are marked and the use of most of them is self-evident.
The number keys are used to enter frequencies (direct tuning).
Lock locks the radio and prevent changes (trurning ON or OFF, changing frequency, any function change is blocked)
Sleep sets a timer.
+, - go up or down in frequency, or when you are setting time.
U/LSB is for toggling Upper or Lower Side Bands.
Auto Up and Auto Down are for the automatic tuning system (scanning the frequency spectrum)
AM is for switching to the AM (medium wave band)
AM/Meter band is for switching to the Short wave bands, and FM is for Frequency modulation band.
VOL + and - increase and decrease volume levels

Page/time: It has 700 memory locations to store frequencies. These are organized in pages (maybe up to 100 pages). You jump to next page with that button. Used also when setting time . Please read the instructions.

F1 to F7 are used to select the day for the alarm. F1 for Day 1, Sunday, F2 for Monday, etc) You can set an alarm for each day of the week.
Reset to reset configuration
TZ/Line in TZ set time zone, Line In if you wan to use the speaker of the radio as the output device for a signal from some other radio, or MP3 player
The tuning knob may also be used to change the displayed value while setting time (I can't remember exactly. You have the manual)
Erase erasing a stored frequency or a page (Check that)
Copy see above.

Banding

If your print head alignment is good, try printing at the slowest setting for the mean time until the banding is gone.

I CANT HERE OR PUT OUT I NDONT KNOW WERE THE NOBS SHOULD BE

Big Knob settings from left to right...
First knobset...inner turn "volume" fully clockwise
... outer "squelch" fully counterclockwise
Second knobset...both inner and outer knobs fully clockwise
Third knob...chose which mode you want to use...Am or Fm (If your radio has been modified to TX/RX CB frequencies, chose AM)
Fourth knob...chose your band (If your radio has been modified to TX/RX CB frequencies, chose band D/A)
The only other knob that is important is the high/low power switch. It selects the band from the pair chosen by the band knob. I don't know if band D corresponds to high or low, so try both settings until one works.

If you can't TX or RX with these settings either there is no one talking at that time or your radio, antenna, or cable might be defective. You should get a copy of the owners manual to fully learn how to chose bands and adjust the settings. I've given you a starting point that should work but may not be optimum for all conditions.

Clear all the pre-set channels

There's no clear all settings there. You need to manually delete each saved station. Try to unplug the power of the unit for few hours and check if that clears all.

You can't add to the preprogrammed search functions, but you can program frequencies from these bands into any locations you wish within the 100 programmable channels, where it will jump bands while scanning.
