Nintendo DS Lite is glitchy. It's automatically selecting options and the cursor is moving on it's own. No buttons seem to be stuck. I took the battery out and put it back in, but that didn't help.

SOURCE: nintendo ds lite barcode sticker came off

Hey rozlin14,

If you purchased your Nintendo DS from your local Best Buy™ store and have a Best Buy Product Replacement Plan (PRP) on the item, I would strongly suggest contacting us directly for further assistance.

You can always reach our toll-free PRP claim hotline by calling (888)-539-6883, and we'd be glad to further assist you.

Please keep in mind though that you will need a copy of your store receipt or PRP brochure booklet when you make the call, as agents will need to confirm some information with you regarding your purchase.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

SOURCE: how to put games in my memory card at Nintendo DS Lite?

To get an in depth answer seach you tube but in brief.
You will need to download the system files for your type of R4 or flash card you are using, make sure you get the exact model type as they are not interchangeable.
Drag and drop the files to your card you will see either 4 or 5 files. Then make a folder called Games on your micro SD card and load your games into that folder.
It quite involved but the tutorials on you tube go right into it.

Just received a used ds lite from ebay. when I type on the screen it enters the letter next to the one I touched. Is this a serious problem? Never used a DS before; will this have an impact on game...

Sounds like you should try recaliberating the touch screen. Calibration must be done with a stylus. Please note: Using a unlicsensed screen protector can lower the sensitivity of the screen, making calibration difficult. If the problem you are encountering started happening after installing a screen protector, this may be the cause of the problem. Remove all games from the Nintendo DS. Turn the system on by pressing the POWER button. Press the A Button when the "Touch the Touch Screen to continue" message appears. When the main menu appears, use the Control Pad to to place the cursor over the Settings Menu Panel at the bottom of the screen, and press the A Button. should look like this :

icon_settings.gif Use the Control Pad to place the cursor over the orange icon that looks like crosshairs (the right-most icon), and press the A Button. should look like this:
icon_calibrate.gif Use the stylus, and tap the red square that appears on the screen. Do this each time the square moves. You must touch the red square precisely at each of the three positions, otherwise the test will continue to re-start If the touch screen is not responding properly, hold the Nintendo DS at an angle so that you can see where the edges of the Touch Screen meet the housing of the system. Look around the entire edge of the Touch Screen for any foreign material (such as crumbs, etc.) that may be wedged in between the Touch Screen and the housing of the DS. Foreign material in this area can cause the Touch Screen to work incorrectly. When complete, four squares will appear, allowing users to test the touch screen sensitivity. (Testing is optional.) Tap the "Confirm" button in the lower-right corner. Wait for the the confirmation message to disappear, then tap "Quit," then "Yes" to exit. The unit will shut down automatically to save the settings. hope this helps

Nintendo ds lite

First try to recalibrate the screen (start up the DS, and do the following--text from nintendo.com):
  1. Remove all games from the Nintendo DS.

  2. Turn the system on by pressing the POWER button.

  3. Press the A Button when the "Touch the Touch Screen to continue" message appears.

  4. When the main menu appears, use the Control Pad to to place the cursor over the Settings Menu Panel at the bottom of the screen, and press the A Button.
      icon_settings.gif

  5. Use the Control Pad to place the cursor over the orange icon that looks like crosshairs (the right-most icon), and press the A Button.
      icon_calibrate.gif

  6. Use the stylus, and tap the red square that appears on the screen. Do this each time the square moves.

    • You must touch the red square precisely at each of the three positions, otherwise the test will continue to re-start.
    • Ifthe touch screen is not responding properly, hold the Nintendo DS at anangle so that you can see where the edges of the Touch Screen meet thehousing of the system. Look around the entire edge of the Touch Screenfor any foreign material (such as crumbs, etc.) that may be wedged inbetween the Touch Screen and the housing of the DS. Foreign material inthis area can cause the Touch Screen to work incorrectly.
If the screen still does not work, you need to buy a new touchscreen. Many vendors sell these, here's an example:

http://store.richspsxparts.com/nidslito.html

You will need a good tri-wing screwdriver to do this repair (don't buy a cheap knockoff--they will strip your screws). Try one like this: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-1e-49-en-15-tri_wing-70-1fe.html

Then follow the step by step tutorial at:

Left side of the screen not responding

  • Be sure that you're using only the bottom screen of the Nintendo DS Lite with the stylus. The upper screen is not a touch screen.
  • Unlicensed screen protectors can lower the sensitivity of the touch screen. If the problem you are experiencing started happening after you attached a screen protector, you may want to remove it. Please note that some screen protectors can leave behind a residue that may be difficult to clean. If you are planning on removing a screen protector that has been placed on your Nintendo DS Lite
  • If the touch screen is not responding when touched, or the accuracy of the screen is off, you may need to recalibrate the touch screen.

      • If the touch screen is not responding properly, hold the Nintendo DS at an angle so that you can see where the edges of the Touch Screen meet the housing of the system. Look around the entire edge of the Touch Screen for any foreign material (such as crumbs, etc.) that may be wedged in between the Touch Screen and the housing of the DS. Foreign material in this area can cause the Touch Screen to work incorrectly. If there are any visible particles, clean the screen.
      • If the above steps did not help, there is a problem with the system and it will need to be repaired.

    7. When complete, four squares will appear, allowing users to test the touch screen sensitivity. (Testing is optional.) Tap the "Confirm" button in the lower-right corner.

    8. Wait for the the confirmation message to disappear, then tap "Quit," then "Yes" to exit. The unit will shut down automatically to save the settings.
