There is a lever on the back of the vacuum you can turn to allow the filter to come out.

SOURCE: Dyson collecting debris/hair, ect on top of hepa filter?

Called Dyson today about the cyclone canister clogging in my DC17 Animal. Turns out it's a problem with the black rubber gasket in the bottom of the canister. This also causes the HEPA filter to get lots of dirt and debris on top of it. They are sending me a new Cyclone canister with the corrected gasket. This will prevent anything but small particles of dust from entering the top of the cyclone and the HEPA filter should no longer collect all that stuff. Hope so!

SOURCE: how to replace dyson dc17 post motor filter

You do not have to disassemble the vacuum to get to the post motor filter. The above person does not know the DC17 if they are telling you this.
You simply remove one Phillips head screw, it is Phillips because most consumers won't have a T-15 driver at home. Remove that screw, the cover pops off and you take out the filter and replace it.
Easy peasy

SOURCE: Hepa filter stopped on Hoover Windtunnel 2 Model #U8361-900

This has a simple solution IF you have a air compressor with a high pressure nozzle. Outside the house, first remove the Dust bin completely and lay the unit down with the dust bin area up. now start blowing the nozzle at the hepa filter, Alot of dust will come out. Now start to rotate the filter while blowing the dust out. The filter will move one way easier, When there is no more dust reinstall the dustbin and check the suction and the rotation of the filter.

SOURCE: Does my Dyson Animal vacuum have a hepa filter?

The HEPA filter is not a cleanable item. The pre-motor filter is the washable one.

How do you clean the HEPA filter on the Dyson DC14 Animal Vacuum

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC14 has two filters, a pre-motor filter and a post-motor filter. Both are engineered to last the lifetime of the vacuum in normal use, but only the pre-motor filter requires maintenance.

We recommend washing the pre-motor filter at least once every 3-6 months using cold water without detergent, as shown in the video below. Always ensure it's completely dry before replacing it - this could take at least 12 hours.

The HEPA post-motor filter does not require any maintenance. We advise against attempting to wash or clean it in any way as this could cause damage. It's normal for the filter to discolour over time, as it's engineered to capture the carbon dust from the motor brushes. This will not affect performance.

I hope this helps, but if you'd like any further information you're welcome to contact our experts directly at 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

I need to clean the post HEPA filter on the bottom of my Dyson DC 18. How do I go about doing that?

If it is one that can be washed instructions will be in owner manual or even on the outside of the ring that holds it in place, did that recently for a friend and if air is blocked there low or no suction and in some cases unit will shut off and seem to have total loss of power, motor overheats and thermal relay or breaker trips.

The unit had marked it could be washed in soap and water in the sink, look for instructions as if not meant to be washed it could be ruined.

How do i replace the hepa filter on a dyson dc18? I removed it and now I cannot put it back on.

It is very simple to change the filter and re-attach the canister. Once you have removed the main canister (the one that has the washable filter) you should see the plastic canister, which houses the Hepa Filter. 1) To make life easy, turn your vacuum around, so you are now looking at the back (where the hose and wand are). 2) Remove the hose and wand as you normally would, if you were going to use them. Just lay it on the floor. 3) Now that they are out of the way, you should see the grey plastic holder, towards the bottom (approx 6 inches above the red release peddle for the vacuum. It is attached to the vacuum with only 2 Phillips-Head screws, and was used to keep the hose in place. 4) Use a screwdriver to remove the screws (one one each side). Once it's removed you should easily beagle to change the Hepa Filter. NOTE: Pay attention to where the 4 inverted latches on the canister are, and pay special attention to the fact that there is an extra latch on the canister, which faces the opposite direction of the others. It is this latch on the canister, which must be located through the back handle of the vacuum, since this was the main latch that was secured by the grey hose piece, which you first removed. 5) To reassemble the canister, line up the clips, especially the one that I just mentioned, and make sure the canister is flush against the base. 6) Now, reattach the hose securing piece that you originally removed, and the Hepa Filter and plastic canister should now be fully secured. 7) Place the hose and wand back into their original position and you should now be ready to vacuum. I hope this was helpful. S.I. Educator

Each time I vacuum, animal hair and dirt collect on the Hepa filter of my Dyson Animal. It is about 5 years old. I have already replaced the Hepa filter about a month ago.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. If dirt and pet hair are collecting on your HEPA filter, the pre-motor filter may be incorrectly fitted, or missing from your cleaner. To check the filter is correctly fitted, please see our online support video for this cleaner:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1461&product=DC14-ALLFLOORS_US

If the cleaner has been used with the pre-motor filter missing, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly, as the cleaner may have been damaged. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards,

Jack

How many filters does a dc08 have?

2 the motor filter which is washable and the lifetime hepa filter that you bnever have to change.
Here are a few links to Dyson for you. if you remove the bin and cyclone top assembly (as if you were going to empty it) you should see on the body of the machine a small tab on the top of the body in between the 2 wheels. Simply lift this tab and you should find the filter. It will be a two part filter with a blue sponge and yellow casing.

For full details visit www.dyson.co.uk/support. Select Using your Dyson, or How to wash my filter from the home page, pick your Dyson vacuum cleaner and you will be able to view a step by step guide on how to find the filter and how to wash it.

There is also a post filter which is locate underneath a disc which is under the clear bin, however this filter should never need to be replaced as it should last the lifetime of the machine and it does not need to be cleaned.

I hope that this information is useful to you. If it is a vote with the thumbs up is greatly appreciated.

Hello, How can I clean the lower filter on our Dyson DCO8.

HI there,
By Lower filter i am going to assume you mean the one below the clear plastic dust bin. The machine you have described has a thick hepa filter (probably with a purple plastic rim) and unfortunately they cannot be effectively cleaned. If you are keen to try then I would suggest using an air compressor blowing from the top to the bottom.
What I would really suggest you do though is throw it out and replace the hepa filter with a new one. If you are in Australia I would try Vacuumspot or Nelson Vacuums.

Cleaning filter on the Dyson Slim

You don't have to clean the HEPA filter (underneath the canister in that clear part) - if you break that clear part you will cause damage to the machine and it won't **** anymore as the air will escape. There is no need to remove it or replace it, it is a lifetime filter. You only have to clean the blue filter that is inside the top of the canister/dirt bin.
