Not all televisions have Firmware Updates. They are only updated for a specific problem or to add a feature to a new set. A friend and I both have the LC-32D64U Aquos sets with the same problem. Black screen for a few seconds with no video or sound. They came with firmware version S0804171.
Installing (reverting?) to firmware S0801101 on Sharp's website resolved these issues. Perhaps you need to update/switch firmware versions, especially if hardware replacement did not resolve the issue.
