SOURCE: WHEN I INSERT CARD, CAMERA SAID CAN NOT BE USED.

the 4800 is a older model that won't support a sdhc card-go back to 2gb or smaller and problem solved-don't waste money on high speed cards for a basic point and shoot camera

SOURCE: new nikon coolpix s570. sd card is not uploading

Use a good antivirus software to scan the SD card. Your SD card could be infected.

Hope this helped.

SOURCE: why won't my Nikon coolpix

SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.

Another possibility- SD type cards have a little switch on the card that can write protect or "lock" it. Take the card out of the camera and check this switch. To unlock it, it should be moved towards the edge of the card which has the electrical contacts.

Finally, it may be that the card is not formatted. Most come pre-formatted, but there is a format function in the camera that you can try. Formatting deletes anything already on the card.

SOURCE: i have a sandisk sdhc

I would try to insert it in your PC and then format the card. Then reinsert in your camera and
see if that helps.

New Nikon Coolpix W100 does not properly read new SanDisk Ultra memory card. It shows only 2 shot capacity on 64 GB card. Tried multiple cards with same result.

That camera should handle SD,SDHC and SDXC memory cards. Small cameras do not typically show capacity. You shoot until it is full. One way to test the capacity is to take a long movie. My larger DSLR will tell me how many shots I can store with the current resolution. My Coolpix cameras do not show this information.

Will Nikon S4 digital camera take a Sandisk 8 GB HDHC card

No. The S4 works with SD cards, which max out at 2GB. It does not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

Camera will not recognize a SanDisk SDHC Card, 4 GB

The Coolpix 3200 works with SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

I just inserted a new 8GB memory card but it tells me ''OUT OF MEMORY'' I tried to format it but still gives me the same message. Why is that and what can I do about it please?

The memory card you are trying to use in the camera is not supported. This camera is an older technology that can not recognize the large 8 GB memory capacity of the card. In fact, the largest approved card your camera will recognize is 1 GB.

The list of approved memory cards was obtained from the Nikon Site directly, and pasted below for your convenience.

Nikon has tested the following cards and approved their use in the Coolpix 5700:

CompactFlash memory cards:
SanDisk SDCFB series 16 MB, 32 MB, 48 MB, 64 MB, 96 MB, and 128 MB
Lexar Media 4× USB series 8 MB, 16 MB, 32 MB, 48 MB, 64 MB, and 80 MB
Lexar Media 8× USB series 8 MB, 16 MB, 32 MB, 48 MB, 64 MB, and 80 MB
Lexar Media 10× USB series 128 MB and 160 MB
Lexar Media 40x USB WA series 256 MB*
Microtech International Digital Flash Film 1GB*
Delkin eFilm 650MB Pro*
Ritz Big Print 8x 256MB* (Edge Code 0E1B)

Microdrive cards:
DSCM-10512 512 MB
DSCM-11000 1 GB

Nikon Coolpix 5900/4 GB Kingston SD Card

The 5900 uses SD cards. The 4GB card you have is actually an SDHC card and will not work in the 5900. You'll have to stay with cards 2GB and smaller.

Camera works with standard SD memory card, but not SDHC

There are hardware incompatibilities between SD and SDHC cards. They're upward compatible in that SDHC devices will accept SD cards but not the other way around. You will have to hunt down SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Bying a new SD-card and wondering how big can it be...

You should be able to use SD cards up to 2GB. Don't go any larger; those are SDHC cards and will not work in the L4.

Nikon Coolpix 4600: Problem: It won't take any photos, it reads: THIS CARD CANNOT BE USED. The card is 128 MB. I purchased a new card: 2GB but it won't work also. My manual says to clean the contacts...

1) Have you formatted the cards?

2) Try the cards in the card reader in your computer to see if they can be read.

3) Try the "switch off camera - remove and replace battery - switch on camera" trick with the original 128 Mb card in place. This will reset the camera's memory.

4) Note the type of card is important - not all cards can be used in a camera (especially some of the latest bigger ones) - check the type of cards supported by your camera.

I found this at the Nikon USA site (note that the 2 GB card is not listed - as said "Cards are not all the same" and use different drivers to operate them):

Question Which Secure Digital Cards are approved for use in the Coolpix 4600/5600? trnsp.gif Answer The Nikon Quality Department has tested the following cards and approved their use in the Coolpix 4600/5600:

Toshiba 16 MB, 32 MB, 64 MB, 128 MB, 128 MB*, 256 MB, 256 MB*, 512 MB

*High speed type of 10 MB/s or over

Other brands and capacities of cards may work, but Nikon cannot guarantee their operation. Check with the manufacturer of the third-
party card for compatibility information. Nikon recommends keeping one of the approved cards available for troubleshooting.
