SOURCE: NEED PARTS FOR OLDER OSTER CLIPPERS
I gave it a shot and it worked!!!....
No need to bother with the universal guards. They looked bulky for the task, and after careful (visible scrutiny) decided to gamble on the "fast feed clipper" guides. Check them out here:

There are surely other people who sell them - you might shop around, but I bought from these guys. Warning, the shipping price is kinda steep. But like I said in my last post, I've tried other clippers and these are just the best. It was worth it to me.
Anyway, I am now confirming that these guards fit this old clipper brand of ours. Perfectly!

If your clippers are the magnetic type (rather than pivot or rotary) they should have a large screw on the side for adjustment (I think the screw you mentioned). The standard adjustment of the screw is to turn it in while the clipper is running until the sound of the clipper increases substantially. Then turn the screw back out, slowly, until the sound decreases again. Turn another 1/4 to 1/2 turn.
Unless something else is wrong, this should take care of the problem, along with proper oiling of the blades.
I hope this helps you.

Oster titan blades. I have had mine for 5 years.
Oil one is a little ball on the side of clippers push in with oil tip. Make sure your clippers are running for this. You also have to grease them once in awhile with clipper grease. You should have a front panel that has screws. open and grease put case back on. for cord you can try an oscar fix place or try and see if the company will replace if you have not had them long. hope this helps.
