If the error code E-90 appears on your Stylus CX control panel display, the print head may not be able to move back and forth freely.

If the ink cartridge cover is not completely closed, the print head may have trouble moving back and forth. Follow these steps to close the ink cartridge cover:

  1. Turn off the Stylus CX.


  2. Lift up the scanner.


  3. Press down on the ink cartridge cover to make sure it is completely closed.


  4. Close the scanner and turn the Stylus CX back on.

If the packing materials are not removed, the print head will be unable to move and the error code E-90 may appear on the control panel display. Follow these steps to remove the packing materials:

  1. Turn off the Stylus CX.


  2. Lift up the scanner to access the printer area.


  3. Remove the tape from the ink cartridge holder.

  5. Close the scanner.


  6. Turn the Stylus CX back on.

I received the error code E 90 and found that most people had found an object that didn't belong and removed it to fix the problem. I did everything they said including turning the printer upside down to dislodge any foreign object. I finally realized my husband had installed the ink cartridge with the little black spacer still attached to the ink. I had to lodge it out with a pencil and now there is no problem.
Once I Lift up the scanner to access the printer area. Press down on the ink cartridge cover to make sure it is completely closed then press start.
DO NOT Close the top until all of the processes of adjusting the gears has taken place or you will have problems with it. That is very important especially if you use ink other than Epson ink. It really doesn't like it so I fool it that way and it doesn't know the difference.

SOURCE: Installed new OEM Epson ink cartridges, get error message 2. Cartridges are installed correctly and tested ok. Chip problem? Print head problem? Cartridge problem?

Go to printers and faxes, and uninstall the printer.
reboot, this should solve the problem

Hi-

try going to Mac HD then applications then utilities folder, then go to disk utility and repair and verify your mac, then try uninstalling and reisnstalling driver. if that doesnt work, try crating a new account in which you will give an admin rights, then reinstall printer driver to that new account, then logout and return top your regular account and check if its been added.

An e-90 error is a fatal error with the printer itself, the only solution is to contact Epson if the unit is still under warranty. Otherwise I understand the fix is more cosstly than the printer. The error seems to be reported most when a new black cart. is installed, you could try reseating the cart, powering down the unit for 15 min and then plugging back in and see if that will reset the printer. Hi

Chances are the mechanism to recognize the ink cartridges is already damage and it may cause a lot having it replaced. I suggest to get a new printer instead specially if you have tried reseating the ink cartridges several times and won't work still.

Screen says please contact epson E-90

E-90 is usually shown when your waste pads are full and the printer wants them changed.

I have error code e 90 on my epsom printer

Generally the fix for most "e 90" error messages on Epson printers is to check under the hood of the printer for something that is there and shouldn't be, eg. glue stick, pencil, paper jam, etc. Most e 90 error messages are solved by simply removing something that shouldn't be there. If, in fact, that doesn't fix it, you should try removing the printer catridges and re-setting the printer. If this still does not fix the problem you should try contacting the Epson Customer Service department and try and get a replacement printer, considering this is surely a hardware issue.

I had the same error and looked at the suggestions. It seems all of the user correctable problems are related to the ink carriage not being able to move freely (mine was a paper jam). Open the lid and see if the carriage will move,
