No battery. This phone is connected directly to a Panasonic phone system and receives all the power from the system. Most likely the line cord is loose or defective but you could have a wiring problem (mouse ate your wire etc..) the phone could have broken, or the port on your system could be bad.
To eliminate the phone itself, just swap it around with other phones on the system.

You don't. Panasonic analog system phones have one ring tone. You can change the cadence (single double or triple) ring from outside calls, but not the tone.
CID comes from a card installed in the phone system, CID service from the telco, and programming of the system, and your phone has to be ringing to display CID. If others have CID and you don't check ringing first. if no one has CID, then check to see if you have the card in your system. It will have a part number ending in 93 as in 62493, 82493, 84893, etc. and be installed inside the cabinet. After that, your Programming manual will have instructions on how to make it work.
