I have a Dyson DC25 where the head won't turn. Or if I could get it to turn it would be very intermediate. As of now, it won't at all. After doing some routine maintenance like checking for clogs, make sure the belt was ok I just got a new cleaner head. But that didn't fix my issue. So after more researching and youtube videos I decided to replace the three switches. Same thing! The darn brush bar (now completely new) still won't turn. What else could I possibly try?
The Yoke Wiring Loom will be Broken. A new Wiring Loom can be Fitted but you would likely need an expert to do it.
There is a wiring harness inside the hose and if I remember correctly, another external wire from the handpiece to the head. One of them may have a broken or loose wire. You can check each wire with a multimeter.

Hi Diana.
Your Dyson has A clutch this has 2 belts, One goes clutch to motor the second goes clutch to brush roller.
You have either A snapped motor to clutch belt or the clutch control knob is not rotating to drive position when you pull the handle back to clean carpets.
Firstly check the control knob this is situated on the front lower left hand side of machine.
EG if your machine is silver & yellow the knob will be yellow approx 2" or 5cm in diameter as I said ensure it moves from off or park to drive if it doesnt move rotate it by hand when you have lowered the handle to vac carpet.
If still no brush roller drive you will need to strip machine down to remove the clutch & gain acces to the belts.
Its A lot of work to explain so try this site http://dysonmanuals.llc.nu/ for clutch removing manual can send via email very quickly.

Stand vacuum up and with it plugged in. Rotate knob between carpet and bare floor and back 5 times leaving it on carpet when finished. Rotate vacuum back from upright position and lay vacuum on the floor, rotating it onto its side. Turn vacuum on.

If the DC14 has a brush protected aspect i.e. a switch on the front that puts the drive belt off, the drive belt would have to be replaced by a professional repairer as this can't be done at home.
If the model doesn't have the brush control at the front, flip the Dyson over so that the beater bar is in the air and locate three/four screws that can be taken out with a coin or blunt knife. A turn is all that is required on those notches and the sole plate should come off once these notches have been undone. Then check the belt - if it has broken lift out the beater bar in the middle with your hand and replace the sections necessary. Be careful to check that the end caps are pushed in properly otherwise the beater bar will not sit correctly.

Hi
If your Dyson has a brush protection design - i.e. roller bar on the top of the hood on the left hand side then the DYson can't be repaired by you- serviceman or professional care can replace it.
However if the Dyson doesn't have the roller bar on top of the hood, flip the machine over so that the beater brush is facing upwards, locate three/four screw heads that can be undone with a coin and remove the sole plate assembly. This should give you a clean view of the brush bar, drive belt and dirt channel. Ensure everything is clean espcially if the brush bar has lots of hair or threads tightly corded around. Then locate the drive belt and check to see if it has snapped. Grasp the beater bar gently upwards and the belt and brush can then be removed. Fit a new belt on carefully and check the tension as it will be tight.

It MAY be a clutch issue. I had a similar problem with my DC07 Animal recently a posted a solution elsewhere on this site, but here's the summary. To reset the clutch on my model, recline the vacuum, turn it on it's side and slowly change the carpet/bare floor knob from one setting to the other about 6 times. This apparently reset the clutch and now it works fine. You may also wish to call DYSON. They're very helpful and walk you through troubleshooting before recommending servicing. Their number is 1-866-693-9766. They'll need your model and serial number (located on bottom of uinit).
