Is there suppose to be a o ring at the bottom when replacing a kohler taboret cartridge

Question edited to fix the typos.

Always worrying when they discontinue lines, and it makes you wonder why?

I normally find that they use steel screws and they stick. Make some sort of a dam around the screw with stout polythene like Ziploc bag and electrical tape to seal the base. Then squirt penetrating oil or WD40 in there to cover the screw head. Top it up a couple of times a day and do that for two days. That should loosen it up and get the oil down the threads.

Often it is just easier to buy a new set.

Spray the nut with penetrating lubricant - I have had this problem
and this should work for you. You may have to spray more than
once and allow time to work. To contain the spray hold paper
towel behind the nut.

kohler bancroft is the sink manufacturer, not the faucet mfgr. do you have a clue what faucet mfgr it might be?

It looks like the valve is installed from the bottom of the fixture, My guess is that the entire fixture has to be removed to get to the valves.

You might try to replace aerator on end of spout if water is leaking around it, or you might try to replace cartridge. VALVE (CORALAIS AND FAIRFAX)

The cartridge has 2 or 3 o-ring type seals around it that feed the water through, it picks up both hot and cold and mixes them. Some cartridges are replaced as one, some you have to replace the seals, just take the faucet info to the hardware store and match it up. I think the diverter is for the shower. It sends the water up instead of out.

the swivel on any tap has an "O" ring or seal at either side of the outlet into the arm
Any leaks from this area indicate a ring/seal failure

turn off water remove handle and check retaining nut remove cartridge and check o-rings for damage or replace replace and tighten cartridge check for leak
