Have a Ryobi 2 cycle trimmer that will not start. It did run fine and was explaining to my son how it all worked. I pushed the priming bulb once during the explanation while it was running then it died immediately. Never to start again. Any ideas to check/start first?

SOURCE: ryobi gas trimmer

I don't mean to over simplify this, but are you using fresh gas? Gas string trimmers are extremely ticky when it comes to gas. They like it SUPER fresh. And while the gas and oil mixture should be right, it can be off a little bit and still run. Try draining all of the gas out, and then filling up with fresh mix. This is ALWAYS my first step with string trimmers, and it fixes the problem 75% of the time.
Hope this helps!!

SOURCE: I would push the prime button 3 or 4 times it starts then quiet

I took my carburetor off and blew it out with compressed air. Runs great now. Make sure to get all of it. Little screw on bottom has a hole in it too!

SOURCE: Ryobi SS30 trimmer starts fine and runs at when in full choke position to about half choke position. But when I put the choke lever to the full run position, it stalls out. Ryobi ss30 same problem of

You need to rebuild the carburetor. You will need to go to an outdoor power & equipment store of some kind to get a carburetor kit for your specific trimmer. It will come with various gaskets, (some of which you won't use), a needle valve, and a small screen that goes in the carb. Replace all old parts with new. New primer bulb is sold seperately. When you have the carb. apart, you will also need to clean the small ports with a Den Tek Brush (used for cleaning teeth). Use carb. cleaner when cleaning.

SOURCE: toro personal pace mower 5 yrs old only runs 10-15 seconds.

Was gasoline left in the tank during off season? Sometimes gas will break down and clog the jets in the carb. The priming bypasses the carb so when you put fuel in by pumping the bulb it runs, but dies becasue no additional fuel is coming through the carb after the primed fuel is burned off. Sounds like you need to clean the jets in the carb and in the future, use Stabil in gasoline to keep it from breaking down.

SOURCE: Ryobi gas trimmer SS26, won't start hot

My solution is to stop buying lawn and garden equipment from the local home centers. I too made the same fatal mistake you folks made. I bought the SS26 model Ryobi weedeater used it about 3 or 4 times and it has turned to ****. I am so pissed off I will never buy any power landscape tools from home centers again. I even bought a Troybuilt gas powered hedger and I have to work on it for 3 hours in order to use it for 1 hour. I will start buying commercially available professional gas powered landscape equipment from now on. I learned my lesson the hard way, just like you. The gas was bad??!!??!... I have used oil mixed gasoline in a lot of my two stroke eqiupment for 12 months without additives and it always burns just fine. The last Ryobi weedeater I had was 15 years old before it gave up the ghost. Thats why I bought this new one. I never had to use fresh gas everytime I used it...What a joke....I say we little people ban toghether and pass the word along to everyone we know about how junky their equipment is and how unreliable the companies are in supporting thier product. The problem with the SS26 Weedeater is the carbureator (spelling) it is an inferior piece of junk...period. After 4 uses, it will only start up, as soon as I pull the gas trigger, it dies because it leans out. I checked the spark plug (another piece of ****) and it looks like the machine was running hot, The electrode was a whiteish color indicateing a lean burn condition, nt the chocolate brown I was hoping to see. I hope this helps everyone who reads this... Spend a couple hundred extra dollars and go buy something real. Stop playing with the kids toys. This is what I am going to do to resolve the problem. They don't care about us, why should we care about them....Down to the firey pits with them....

I have a ryobi rpt 320e grass trimmer. my question is when pushing the prime bubble , should fuel come out of the small hole on the plate under the diaphram bowl.

the small hole should have a line attached to it so fuel goes to the carb --the bulb --has inlet from tank to bulb -outlet from bulb to carb

Weedeater blower will not prime

The primer bulb sucks fuel from the tank to the carb. When the carb has enough fuel the remainder is sent back to the tank. When you replaced the fuel line did you use the exact length of line and did you re-install the filter. On some of the trimmers the filter is weighted and holds the line in the fuel. Good luck...Lee

My prime button broke can i bypass it

No, you cannot bypass it. Even if you could get it to run without the bulb there would be a significant chance of fire and injury. Replacement Ryobi primer bulbs are very common, you can get one just about anywhere...in fact, you can go to Google, put in Ryobi and whatever the model number is of your trimmer and the words primer bulb and you will get plenty of hits for parts companies that carry the replacement bulb.

Husgvarna string trimmer stahls.

Try getting some carb and choke cleaner and spraying down the carb. You might have some varnish in the carb and it won't let the fuel flow properly. My ryobi 4 cycle trimmer does that every year. I clean the carb and it usually runs decently.
Good luck

Runs only briefly after priming

Yes, Depending on how old your trimmer is, one of two things is wrong. Either the carburetor just needs a very good cleaning, or you need to purchase a carb. kit and replace the small screen, gaskets, and needle valve. It would probably be good idea to do both if your trimmer is more than three years old and if you have never replaced parts on carb
