My u line under counter ice maker (bin, not clear ice) will take forever to make ice. Once it starts to make ice and drop it in the bin, several hours later it will stop making ice and the made ice will melt. I switch it off, wait several hours and the process repeats itself. Low on freon?

Can you tell me the model? If its a bi series then it should make ice every 45 min. temps should be 10-15 degrees in bucket. If its a combo then it could take 24 hours to make 1/2 of the bucket.Should be the same temp in your bucket.Make sure you dont have heavy frost in the freezer, Make sure the condenser fan is running and clean. If the temperature in freezer is alot warmer than this and everythng is running then it could be a leak in the system. If its colder than that then set the thermostat to a warmer temperature

Ice maker stopped working

When the ice bin fills up, it won't let the arm all the way down. The arm must go down for more ice to drop into bin. Sometimes an ice cube or two will get caught under the arm and prevent it from cycling. Continuing to use the ice maker will empty bin but no new ice is made. Clear any ice cubes from under the arm and the cycle will start again. My ice maker takes about twelve hours to fill after it has been emptied but ice from the door is available almost imediately.

My Icemaker won't keep the ice once it makes it

What make and model of ice maker do you have?
Is the unit making ice? If so, about how much?

Most commercial bin type ice makers are not engineered to maintain the ice once it drops into the bin. Older ice is intended to melt and the water should drain out of the bin as new ice is deposited on top.

It may be that you are consuming ice at a rate greater than the unit is designed to produce ice, or that the unit is not set to the highest ice production rate (if adjustable).

Alternatively, if the inside of the bin is hot (warm) you may have another problem with the unit (e.g., gasket leak). Was the unit previously working? If so, are you aware of any events that took place just prior to the change?

Some units have a defrost or a cleaning mode, which will actually generate heat inside the unit. Make sure the unit is set to the correct mode.

Ice maker is not getting water to make cubes.

The red light should flash, the most likely suspect is that the inlet tube that carries the water to the ice maker is frozen. If you open the freezer door and hold the swinging door in front of the ice maker up you will see a black rubber tube coming down from the top. If it feels hard it may have an ice block in it.

The best way to clear the block is to turn off the refrigerator or unplug it, warm up the tube with a hair dryer or for quicker unthawing take a turkey baster and squirt hot water into the tube catching the run off with a towel.

It can take quite some time and several cups of hot water to finally clear the ice. Once done it will take about 2 hours for the ice maker to cool back down and start a cycle to test it.

Ice maker is working, but there is water in the bottom of bin

You will need to pull out what ice you have in the bin to get to the drain. Once you have done that, take a hose and force water thru the drain. You may have to snake the drain if is more than a build-up of ice. Once the drain is working, clean out the bin with ice machine cleaner and sanitizer. Restart the machine and make sure no water is dripping from the evaporator above. If there is, it needs to be cleaned.

U-Line undercounter frost free ice maker refrigerator

All units made today have defrost timers to clear ice from the evaporator. Some of the ice sublimates...turns directly into humidity in the air in the box. It re-condenses in the ice tray area. It is possible that nothing is wrong other than excessive opening of the bin area or the defrost timer is running slow and staying on too long. You may also be consuming the ice too slowly. Can you either change the amount of ice in the bin by adding something to simulate part of the ice content or shut off ice production against low demand?
