Bad batteries, happen 9 out of 10 times, short lived batteries,

we test the batteries on bench remove (dont get electrocuted)
12vdc batters are common and we have bench charger
if the cell voltage can not charged above 10v, 12.6v is correct

UPS used lead acid batteries which die after 3 or 4 years. Disconnect the power and open it to see which ones it uses. You will know they are dead if they have swollen or melted. Buy replacement batteries.

That error means low temperature on the heat roller. The thermistor (something like an electric thermostat) measures the amount of heat needed to work. Error 173 refers a lower temperature than required, while error 172 refers overheat. The complete error list will be of no use to you, since most errors will refer you to an authorized service center
