This is my first time posting to the forum. I have an older Toshiba TV, model 46L5200U1. I'm having difficulty on all inputs with the picture. The picture comes on, lasts briefly before flickering, then disappears. Sound continues to work. All the research I've done online indicates that the LED strip needs to be replaced. So, two questions: 1. Is replacing the LED strip an easy fix? I can handle simple plug and replace type repairs but have to pass it to someone with more experience if soldering is required. 2. How do I determine the part number? I'm not savvy enough to know what I'm looking for if I take the back of the TV. Thanks for your help!

Check and replace the damaged component/s at its vertical scan output circuit. Replace all the electrolytic capacitors related with vertical scan output circuit. Replace all at one time. Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

To do this, you have to enter its service mode option. This display will be entirely different to that of user menu display, and have an other way to get into. If you wish to get more about how to enter service mode to Toshiba TVs visit this site. Pull up older posts there.

I have and older toshiba tv and we can not get the xbox to come in. we have tried every channel and get nothing but snow

Hi,

I think you will find that the X-Box signal is not on any channel number and you will need to select an external input/source on the TV.

Switch on your TV and your X-Box so there is a signal being sent to the TV. Then look for a button on your remote or the front of the TV marked "INPUT", "SOURCE", "AV" or "TV/AV". When you have located this button, press it slowly and repeatedly until you are able to see the signal from the X-Box on the TV screen. If you press too many times and skip past it, just keep pressing it until the picture from the X-Box appears again. You will also need to use the same method to return to watching TV when you have finished using the X-Box.

If you are still having difficulty, please let me know the model number of the Toshiba TV and any remote control you are using and I will let you know the exact method for your TV.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
BElectric

ON-LINE INSTRUCTIONS???

One of the most recognizable makers of TVs in the world is Toshiba. The company's TVs are found in every major electronics store at a reasonable price. Packed with features, they have a model for everyone, whether it be LCD or older, tube-based CRT technology. Toshiba T.v are fairly easy to operate. Basic functions
  • Before you do anything with your Toshiba TV, you have to plug it in to a wall outlet. After plugging it in, locate the power button on the front (or on the remote) and turn on your TV. Depending on if you have cable TV or not, you can use the channel functions to flip between your favorite channels. The "Menu" button is useful to access advanced settings, like channel detection, parental controls, closed captions and picture controls.
  • Using video inputs
  • You can connect a variety of devices to your Toshiba TV via its front, side or rear inputs. If you look at the back, you'll see a variety of audio and video inputs to connect virtually any kind of device. You should see a few kinds of video inputs: Composite and s-video (for connecting older technology like VCRs and cable boxes), component video (for connecting older DVD players) and HDMI (for connecting digital technology like receivers and Blu-Ray players). Audio inputs are analog (red and white) or digital (coaxial and optical). Use digital connections when possible to ensure the best quality.

To connect VCRs and DVD players, simply connect the proper cable to their audio and video outputs, then match the cable to the proper inputs on the back of the TV. Make sure everything is secure and take note of which input you connected it to. Now, tune your TV to the proper input by pressing "Video" on the remote.
  • Maintenence and tips
  • Your Toshiba TV is a sensitive electronic device, so precautions should be taken to keep it in top working order. If the screen gets dusty, wipe it with a dry, soft cloth. If you own a Toshiba plasma TV, be aware of burn-in and ghosting problems. Avoid watching programs that have static images is left on the TV for hours at a time. If you have a flat-panel Toshiba TV, consider getting it professionally calibrated to get the best possible picture
