Age means nothing for ceiling fans for lamps (isn't that quaint?) they would take a GU24 base in some European countries or an Edison medium in North America. I recommend going to LED for a replacement because ceiling fans are a pain to change bulbs and either indancescent or compact fluorescent have filaments that are vibration sensitive. Not so with LED. LED life is better , and they are more efficient anyway. Good luck!

clean and grease the fan check the black cap to see if it is not fauly if it is replace it.if that does not work the ammeture is faulty time to buy a new fan good luck

Replace the bulb. If you are going crazy while getting a new bulb turn off the breaker for the room. A serious design flaw, I would complain to Casablanca if you have the time.

I believe there are four nuts that hold the decorative wood around the glass that has to be removed first. Then, you probably twist the glass off or loosen some screws. If that doesn't work then call Casablanca @ 1-800-715-0393

Hello Duke,

I'm guessing you have a "prime touch" remote control system. I'm not exactly sure whats going on but the W-505 Prime Touch receiver in the fan is the brains of the system. They sell replacement W-505 parts at Fan Man Lighting.

Hello, Just had a casabalanca 84u45d ceiling fan installed. Seems to low. Installer said cannot go any closer to ceiling.Store said it should. Who is correct.Need as close to ceiling as apossible.tks

According to the model # you gave the fan has a 2-3" down rod. You can not get ride of that or you can not mount the fan. here is a manual for the fan that you listed. On page 3 you will see how to mount to ceiling. If this is not the fan give me the right one so I can see if it can be flush mounted to the ceiling.
