It could be many things. Flashing 48 is 48'F signifying it is over temperature threshold.

Could be a gas leak, defrost timer, compressor fan, condenser fins blocked, or thermostat. It is a Smeg, so you need a Service Call.

Temperature Controls ·A Frigidaire refrigerator's display panel blinks when the control panel is touched to set temperature controls. A power reset involves disconnecting power to the refrigerator by unplugging its power cord from the electrical outlet, waiting 30 seconds and plugging the power cord back into the electrical outlet. When the control panel resets, a beep sounds. If the refrigerator beeps even after a power reset and the beeps' source is not known, contact Frigidaire.

your internal light may be fused otherwise connecting wires are get damaged.

It is the defrosting heating elements and sensors that has gone bad.
Check for glowing light at bottom of the back panel. Turn the freezer section off and contact Smeg!

we unplugged the refrigerator for a bit over 1 minute and replugged and problem went away.
