Fuse A 20 amp fuse is installed in your tractor's wiring harness to protect the tractor's electrical system from damage caused by excessive amperage. If the electrical system does not function, or your tractor's engine will not crank, first check to be certain that the fuse has not blown. It can be found under the hood mounted between the dash panel and fuel tank on the right-hand support bar. IMPORTANT: Always use a 20 amp fuse for replacement.

Have the battery load tested (any auto parts can do this for free) and make the engine spins freely.

SOURCE: toro lx425 rider mower wont start

If a small engine wont start its usually one of two problems, its not getting gas, or its not getting spark. easy way to find out if its getting a spark is to remove the plug, put it back back in the connector and just let it hang down while you try to start it. you should see a bright blue spark, if you dont try changing the spark plug. if its getting a spark come back on this site and i'll help you trouble shoot it.

Check the voltage on the battery to see if it is 12 volts or higher. If not, charge battery.

Then check all starting-related electrical connections-- sounds like there is a dirty connection somewhere if the battery is charged.

SOURCE: Mower will not start. Makes a loud fast clicking noise when the key is turned.

Loud ticking usually indicates near dead battery, take it out and charge it. If it still ticks you may need to replace it as they are only good for a few years.

no,,just turn the key to start her up!,,,if the engine is free to turn i gess it has a stuck starter relay or a jamed starter, or a dirty power/earth lead or joint some were
but check that this battery you charged up is any good first if the battery has been left standing in a discharged state it wont be any good any more,,try a set of "jump leads" from a good car battery!

My Toro LX425 riding mower will not start has been fine all season; battery indicator light on but wont turn over; starter?

First make sure your battery is fully charged. The charger on lawn tractors will not keep the battery fully charged as they just produce a light charge. Check battery before the starter but if battery is fully charged then it's possible the starter could be bad.

Test the battery with a volt/ohmn meter to ensure it reads at least 12-14 volts. Check all the safety switches located underneath the seat & the mower deck engage handle is disengaged. Check all battery wire connections are soldi, not corroded. Check wiring on starter solenoid from battery & to key switch.

I have a Toro LX425 riding mower with a new battery. Tries to turn over for a few seconds and then the battery is dead. Jump started with a car battery. Fired up fine. Ran for 45 minutes cutting grass....

Your most likely talking new starter, never jump start a lawnmower with car,to much amps.fries your starter resulting in like low battery condition,If interested can give you a place you can get a resonable price ,Most places will shock you over 120 dollers.

Won't start, just clicks

I'm not familiar with this Toro Model, but that click sound probably is the starter solenoid engaging. Have you checked the wiring from the battery to the solenoid and from the solenoid to the starter? Also, check the ground connection on the mower frame.
You may have a bad starter motor. You can by-pass the solenoid by - placing a heavy gauge wire from the POSITIVE battery terminal directly to the STARTER terminal, where the heavy wire is attached. Be careful NOT to ground out the wire from the battery.
If the starter turns - it's a bad solenoid. If it does not turn - it probably is a bad starter motor.

Toro LX425 wiring harness

The blades themselves don't really matter. If the hood has a safety switch, then all you need to do is bypass it with a jumper wire. Other than that, you should be all set.

New battery won't take charge

Hello, and how are you. It could possibly be the charger itself If everything else seems fine. If all wire connections at the starter and the battery are tight, clean and no cuts any where on the wires them selves.I would try a new charger. Another thing is you could see if someone could check the wires with a meter to see if there are any unnoticeable breaks in the wires.
