My candy grand codenser model number GOC580C won't start but there is heat coming from it and I can start it by switching it on and spinning the drum closing the door and pressing the button

I don't know what a "candy grand o comfort dryer" is. If it is electric powered, what you are describing sounds possibly like what is called "single phasing". This is where a motor that is supposed to run on 220 - 240 volts is only connected to half of the circuit, or 110 - 120 volts. If this is the case, then it's probably either a blown fuse or a bad connection in the wiring or in a switch. To avoid damage to the unit, I highly recommend that you don't try to run anymore till the problem is corrected, and that you get a licensed electrician to troubleshoot and correct the problem.

not a good model number,most likely you have a broken belt as long as it starts,heats but the drum doesn't spin,if you get a buzzing sound and it doesn't start you could have something stuck in the blower wheel,the motor is jammed or the motor is bad,you can open the door,push the door switch in,spin the drum with your other hand and have someone push the start button,if it starts you have a bad motor.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, AND A ENGINEER SAID THAT THE BEARINGS HAVE GONE AND THAT IT TAKES 2 PEOPLE TO FIX IT AND THAT THE BEARINGS 7 DRUM COME AS ONE COMPLETE SYSTEM AND WILL ROUGHLY COST ABOUT £200 AND TAKE ABOUT 2 HRS TO FIX. SO IS IT WORTH IT OR BUY ANOTHER ONE INSTEAD.

Try the drive belt from motor to the drum it could have stretched a little? The noise you can hear could be the heating element catching the inner drum or something like a wire from a bra came loose in a wash and is trapped between the drums ?

sounds like m/c is waiting to heat up water but heating element is not working or timer switch not going on to next cycle.

it is rubbing on spin cycle due to being out of balance.Rubbing wont occur when turning by hand.
Stop by your local hardware store for a packet of drum balancers.
