You have a low charge. It's not totally out because you clutch engaged occasionally. When your clutch locks and turns your compressor on, your low side pressure drops below the low limit cut off. It will disengage the compressor until the upper side of the low limit serpent is met and will turn it on again and it will do it over and over. If it's a 134A system, go to an auto parts store and by a can of 134A.
Get the one with the guage so you know where your charge is at. Hook it up to the low side port. You will have a high side and low side port. It will only fit an the low side port. Turn your car on, put the AC on with the fan on high. Go to the bottle and turn it upside down and press the button for 5 seconds. Your AC clutch will start to engage longer. You want to charge it to the low part of the green scale. Turn the can upside down and press the button for 2 seconds and let the system stabilize. Keep doing it until you get to where you need to on the guage.
Good luck
Hook up a set of gauges and see what the pressures are. If while running the low side drops to 15-20 psi and the compressor cycles off then more that likely it is low on freon and needs a recharge.

Chesapeake, given your symptoms you'll be looking at installing a new Selector Switch. But, before you go there... UNPLUG THE UNIT OR SHUT OFF THE BREAKER!!! Your selector switch does two things at a time, It energizes the fan motor (which it IS doing) and energizes the compressor at the same time. The voltage to your compressor goes from the wall into the selector, out of the selector, through the temp control then to the compressor. When the temp control is satisfied, it interrupts power to the compressor. The click you hear is the temp control being NOT satisfied and trying to send power to the comp. But if there is "no power" to send (i.e., the selector switch has failed)the compressor won't know to engage. Remove the front panel and filter. Remove the control box housing. Remove the knobs from the controls. You will now see the selector switch. Remove the 2 screws that fasten it (don't remove the wire yet!) and install the new switch. Then, one wire at a time, remove the wires from the old switch and install them on the new one. ***If you have an OHM meter, check the temp control before ordering a selector because this may be the problem and NOT the selector! To do this... remove the 2 wires from the temp control, set the control to "coldest". Then with your meter, test OHM's between the terminals. If you see "zero" OHM's, it's good. If you see no change in your meter, it's bad and THIS is the source of your problem. If you don't have a meter... you can test using this procedure... cut a 6" length of wire and strip the ends to about 3/8", twist the copper ends tightly. Remove both wires from the temp control, then insert one end of your jumper wire into one terminal and the other end into the other terminal. Make sure the "jumpered" wires are away from anything metal!!! And plug the unit back in. Now turn the unit on. If the unit fires up? It's the temp control, If not? it's the selector switch. SOURCE: cooling fan not working
The fans only run when the engine reaches approxminatly 235 degrees F. on the guage that is near the end of scale just before guage show "HOT" I don't think you have a problem, allot of folks out there don't know about this.
SOURCE: RV air conditioner. Compressor running, fan stops before cool
The fan motor is getting hot and going off on the internal overload in the motor.
This is caused by either a low voltage, a bad capacitor, or tight or dry bearings in the motor.
To check the bearings turn the power off to the unit, then spin the fan blade if it spins freely then the bearings are ok.
To check the capacitor you will need some kind of tester or you can buy a capacitor and replace it, that's what a lot of people do. They usually don't cost very much.
To check the voltage you will need a voltmeter and measure the volts at the unit.
SOURCE: Blowing hot air, compressor not kicking on, just fan ? ?
are you speaking of the outside fan or inside? compressor should be a little warm but not boiling hot. the unit could be low on freon. if low it will run a while but the compressor will overheat and shut off leaving the fan running by itself ouside. if nothing outside is running check power. if you have power check the contacted outside to make sure it's pulled in. contacters are bad about going out on goodman untis. Also ants can get under contacts.
SOURCE: amcor af11000e air conditioner. The fan runs, but
it is either the capacitor or it has no freon you can replace cap but not add freon not worth it. you should return it if you can
FAN NOT WORKING
It
can be issue with faulty motor or its faulty fan control relay.
Bother
are to be inspected.
Test
