Can't acess laptop computer but can see on desktop

To allow access between both the laptop and desktop the hard drives or folders on both computers must be made shareable.
Right click on the C drive or folders or other hard drive then click on Sharing and Security - Sharing. Then in Network Sharing and security - tick Share this folder on the network and enter a share name that identifies this computer and drive/folder.

Problem with KVM switch and Vista

Your problem has nothing to do with the Operating System (Vista), it has something to do with the brand of your computer. I have similar problem before, I have Vista (Dell), but the time I connected another Vista (Sony Vaio), everything worked correctly.

This is what you need to do:

1. You have to make sure that you are using a standard USB keyboard and mouse.

2. Connect first the keyboard and mouse directly to the Vista computer to see if the USB ports of your computer are working properly.

3. You may power cycle the KVM switch by disconnecting it from the computers (including the keyboard and mouse) and leave it disconnected for 2 minutes.

4. Reconnect everything after two minutes and then reboot the computers.

5. Try using different USB keyboard if problem exist after power cycling the KVM switch.

Home network w/ XP pro desktop and Vist Home pro laptop

So you want to remotely control your Desktop from your laptop from anywhere, correct?

Well only thing you need  is an internet connection, and you can access your desktop.

There are tons of software you can use to control your desktop remotely.

Here are some good ones:

Logmein free click that, that will link you to LogMein's free solution.

Logmein offers several solutions, the free is what I would use for you unless you wanted to pay.

Another very good one is:
RemotelyAnywhere click there, that is a very good software probably my favorite.

Those are the main 2 that you would like.

There are other ones more for more advanced users like:

Good luck!

Wireless printer

it sounds as if the printer may not be set as the default printer, so check in the installed printers and check and also check that the printer you are sending the print to is the setup one and not a pdf or microsoft office document printer, this is found on the drop down box when the print option appears. i am also assuming that the printer has worked before from vista to an xp machine as sometimes xp needs a small update to be used with a vista pc on the network
