Try to power off, take out sim, bootup, then shutdown, then place sim, try again.
if not get another sim (or new sim).

On this kind of error, you should contact your Network Service Provider because they can tell you the number of the Message Center Number that will allow you to send and receive messages.

Hey, I just bought the same phone from ebay, and it was preflashed for cricket too. My phone had the same exact problem. I called cricket technical support at 1-800-274-2538 and they refreshed my flashing while i was on the phone with them. As soon as I got off the phone with them my phone worked perfectly. call the customer service of your service provider ( AT&T,Vodafone,Verizon etc)....they will set up message center number on your phone , the one that you have might be incorrect...your mobile operator will send you sim updates that will refresh the settings ....and then you will get the text message options
