Feed dog latch should be under the feed dogs, usually behind a flip out cover.

SOURCE: feed dog is stuck

I have the same problem...this is a work around, not a fix. You need a small flat-head screwdriver. 1. Remove the clear bobbin cover. 2. Make sure the feed dog switch is in the DOWN position. 3. Slide the screwdriver under the feeddogs from inside the bobbin area & lift the feed dogs. 4. While holding the feed dogs in the up position, return the feed dog knob to the up position. You have to do this every time you put the feed dogs down...bummer, but I can find no broken part or adjustment that corrects this. If it's inside the machine body, I don't mess with it... I did take off the bottom plate in the feed dog area..one screw holds it.... there is nothing there to indicate a problem.

SOURCE: Feed dog lever not working on my Kenmore 385 24 stitch machine

I surfed around this site for various suggestions, finally took the bottom plate off and cleaned and oiled all the parts along that rod that goes right across (think it's a drive bar that rotates). Ran the machine without thread in for a few minutes to let the oil soak in. Machine now works fine.

SOURCE: should I oil my Elna 3005 sewing machine?

Many of the new models do not require oiling.

Check the maintenace section of the manual for cleaning the shuttle area. Sometimes lint can build up and cause the machine to get noisy.

If it has been over a year since the machine was serviced, it may be time for a proffesional tune-up.

How to remove covers on Elna el2000?

To remove the covers on the Elna EL2000 sewing machine, you will need a screwdriver. Follow these steps:
  1. Unplug the machine from the power source.
  2. Locate the screws holding the cover in place. They are typically located at the top, bottom, and sides of the machine.
  3. Use the screwdriver to remove the screws and set them aside.
  4. Gently lift the cover off the machine.
To fix a machine stuck in reverse, try the following steps:
  1. Clean the machine: Turn off the machine and unplug it from the power source. Remove any visible lint or debris from the feed dogs and bobbin case area. Use a soft-bristled brush to remove any debris in hard-to-reach areas.
  2. Check the reverse lever: The reverse lever may be stuck or jammed. Check to see if it moves freely. If it is stuck, try lubricating it with a drop of sewing machine oil.
  3. Check the feed dogs: The feed dogs may be stuck or jammed. Use the handwheel to manually move the feed dogs up and down. If they do not move freely, clean and lubricate them.
  4. Check the bobbin: The bobbin may be inserted incorrectly or wound too tightly. Remove the bobbin and reinsert it, making sure it is seated correctly. If the bobbin is wound too tightly, it can cause the machine to become stuck in reverse.
If none of these steps fix the issue, it may be a mechanical problem that requires professional repair.

Elna 3007. Tried a stich other than straight and when back to straight the machine does several stiches forward, then back, then forward and so on. I cannot get out of this mode adjusted selector

My guess is feed dog interference. Clean out bobbin, hook, and feed dog area.

You might first try lowering and raising feed dogs and see if problem goes away.

My Elna 6000: the needle does not want to move forward or backwards

The needle never moves forward/back on its own for most sewing machines. The needle bar goes up and down. The fabric moves due to the action of the feed dogs. First remove the fabric from under the presser foot. Check for tangled thread wrapped around the feed dogs or fabric/thread going down into the bobbin area in a tangle. Next check if the feed dogs are up. (When the feed dogs are down or covered (on some machines), the machine is in darning mode. The fabric will only move if you move it yourself.) With the fabric out of the way, rotate the hand wheel and check if the feed dogs are moving. Open up the bobbin compartment and clean out any lint, thread or other debris that may be tangling the mechanism. Take off the throat plate and check the feed dogs. A damaged throat plate can stop the feed dogs from moving properly. You may need to replace the throat plate.

For some machines, you may need to make sure that the unit is not in bobbin wind mode. This is usually obvious since the needle bar won't move either.

I hope this helps.

I have an Elna 8000. It isn't feeding material now. It's looks like the feed dogs are staying flush with the plate. Any ideas?

check the forward /reverse lever / switch as flush means that the machine is in the no forward , no reverse situation

ELNA 1000 not moving fabric through.

Have you got a tangle under your fabric? If so, release the fabric and rethread your machine, making sure the foot is up during threading. Otherwise check the feed dog under the foot. There's usually a switch somewhere that brings the feed dog up or down. If it's down the fabric won't feed. Another point, what type of fabric are you sewing. If it's leather or leatherette you'll need to use a roller foot. Hope this helps.

Adjust machine

The waling foot sewing machine attachments I am familiar with don't exactly walk. They have a presser foot that glide over the cloth like every other presser foot. In addition they have feed dogs that work in unison with the feed dogs built in the machine. When the needle penetrates the material, the lower dogs drop and come forward and the upper dogs raise and come forward. As the needle exits the cloth, the lower dogs rise and pull the cloth while the upper dogs drop and pull the cloth. The arm on the attachment that operates the upper dogs rides on the screw that holds the needle. There is nothing to adjust.

I have an Elna 2730. the feed dog is not transporting the fabric anymore and the needle just keeps stitching in the same place. is it broken or just needs adjusting?

if you have a manual, look to see where the feed dogs are, if the lever for the feed dogs is in the up position then the machine will sew a straigh stitch
if the feed dog lever is in the down position then it will only stay in one spot,
if you try to push the lever up and it will not stay or stays and will not sew then the feed dogs need to be checked

Cloth will not move forward

Cogs are feed dogs.

Check your manual to see if there is a pressure adjustment for the presser foot.

This may be a nob on top of the machine directly over the presser foot.

Turning the adjustment left/less or right/more pressure.

Also, refer to the manual for cleaning the bobbin and feed dog area as lint may be causing a bit of the problem.
