The lock display means that u accidentally pushed up the lock button... the lock button is on the top left side of the mp3 and u slide it DOWN to UNlock. its probably switching off because whenever u run out of batteries it automatically switches off to save energy. and u hve to charge it for 5hrs b4 u can start using it... so that might be why its not working all that gr8 anymore.

Jfdkla;

I have the same problem right from day dot.... have found that using a pin on the reset button gets it back on every time! But the problem keeps coming back. I believe its a software bug on these units.
Have you tried using another USB port? Did you reset the player? Just make sure the hold/lock is not engaged. If nothing works then try downloading the latest version of the Philips Device Manager.

You can also try removing the unit and trying to charge the battery connecting it to a suitable DC power supply for a couple of hours.

i believe if it doesnt work till then its better to return the unit and get a new one if ur unit is still under warranty....

Philips GoGear SA3125/37 MP3 Player Charger cable

The charger cable is sold by an outside company - Philips can give you the number for that company, or you can order it online.

If you already have a charger cable, plug the mp3 player into your computer - it will charge as long as the hold/lock switch is not engaged.

File format not supported

You have to change the Rip Options --> Format in Windows Media Player to Mp3, or else the files will transfer as a raw CDA, and the Philips will keep giving you this message.

MY philips go gear 2gb music player does not getting on.

Run a Repair in Philips Device Manager - the program came on the installation CD.

If that fails the first time: Unplug the GoGear from the PC. Uninstall all Philips software in the Add/Remove Programs section of Control Panel. Restart your computer and reinstall the software. Replug the GoGear. Re-run the Repair.

Good luck!

Philips Go Gear MP3/Video Player 2 GB (Model SA3125)

The Phillips Go Gear is not compatible to Windows Vista, and there is nothing one can download to make it compatible. I contacted Phillips, and they said that there are no plans to update the software so that it works on Vista. Pass this to everyone that is having a similar problem. Contact Phillips on their website, and request that the Phillips Go Gear software be updated to include Windows Vista. If more people raise a stink (especially threatening never to buy Phillips products), maybe something will be done.
