How are you determining that one section.is cold and one warm? If this is in fact the case you have a blockage in the coil or a compressor that is down provided this is a multi compressor unit.

The cold that you describe may be just unconditioned air? If you are certain you can hear the comp operating for a couple of minutes, and then the heat starts, I would guess it is a reversing valve issue if it's a heat pump and it probably is. Or the control board acting up. I've had a lot of issues with the boards in the Amanda PTAC units. I can't remember how to configure it, but if you Google "Amanda ptac configuration", there is a lot of info online. May try a reset method first. Hope this helps!

You need to replace the fan capacitor. Your compressor is probably in thermal overload you can cure this by turning off the disconnect your ac voltage and taking a cool water hose and running over the top of the compressor for a while. Then turn your disconnect back on and listen and feel of the big copper line to see if it gets cold and also listen to see if the compressor kicks on.

It's gonna be difficult to get a matching evap coil for a 20 year old ac system. Since 2006 all of the evap coil were made to be 13 seer and that caused the size to increase making it hard to install sometimes. If you are going to replace the whole coil, you would be better off if you can swing the money to replace the outdoor condenser and indoor coil at the same time. I know that you only got two years out of the compressor, but everything is going to the new R410A Refrigerant and more efficient systems. You Should Be Able to Keep Your Furnace. Depending On The Climate A Heat Pump Dual Fuel Would Save You A Ton Of Money.

Low on refrigerant which is R 12. EPA has stopped the manufacture of it and it is priced out of sight.
You have a leak and will need it fixed. Compressor is about $300-400 list. You don't want to go there.

Check low voltage or your control voltage. If your transformer is bad this will cause the unit not to work.

This is no doubt due to failure of the "hot surface ignitor". This device lights the main burners for your furnace, and they fail a lot. I strongly recommend the replacement should be done by a technician.

do you have a totaline t-stat. they and some other brands have a fan recirculation setting in the installers menu.

this is assuming that this happens in addition to the heating or cooling normally

if unit is more than 5 yrs old dump it!!! most frigidaire models just dont last...that is why they are so cheap...get it???
