If the 290 foot pedal is fairly new I would return it to the dealer as it sounds defective.
Meanwhile use the other foot pedal that you can count on!

SOURCE: My Viking 5710 starts to sew without any pressure on foot pedal

Mine does the exact same thing. I think the problem might lie in the cord to the foot pedal. The cord packs into the foot pedal for storage, which forces the cord to to remain bent during storage. I believe the wires in mind became damaged and broken so I took it apart and reconnected the wires at the spot where the connector meets with the wires. But I still don't leave it plugged in if I'm not using it, it could be a fire hazard.

SOURCE: I have a Kenmore sewing

Buy a new foot pedal for it, probably one of the electrical components inside the foot has failed.

There are Kenmore footcontrols for sale on www.sewingpartsonline.com. You could email them to check its right for your model if it isn't listed.

Obviously I'm assuming that you are in USA with 110 Voltage and that is what your machine is. If not and your country is 220V, you would need to source it from a reseller in your own country or another with the same voltage.

How do I fix my singer 6333? I plugged it in the light comes on the foot pedal is attached but no air coming the machine to the foot pedal therefore no sewing action how do I fix it?

There are some sewing machines that the foot pedal is driven by air pressure. Sometimes they will develop leaks so the air does not build up enough pressure to activate the machine. You might see about finding a replacement foot pedal--however if that is not the problem, you may waste your money. Perhaps a sewing repair shop can help you.

Power won't stop Husqvarna/Viking 6020 sewing machine

grant514 Has pretty much hit the nail on the head but the RF suppressor is located in the motor housing, not the foot pedal. It bridged the terminals where the foot pedal connects. Removing this capacitor resolved the same issue in my machine and given the absence of radio receiving equipment in my home now I have had no ill effects.

Start/stop button problem will the machine run on its own

You have to unplug the power cord to the the foot pedal. The manual doesn't include this. And good stinkin luck with Sears or Kenmore customer service! Just pull the cord out of the machine and the start/stop button will work. Try it on a slower setting at first though. Also, if you need additional presser feet, Singer, Brother, Janome, and possibly other brands will usually work as long as they are the snap on type. I really do like my machine, good luck with yours!

Singer 7462 sewing machine

There is two seperate cords on this machine. A power cord and a pedal cord. If you put the power cord in and switch the machine on, and then remove the pedal cord it should give you a beeping sound, which shows you the connection does work.
