Self running machine, safety of foot pedal?

I found an electronic sewing foot pedal that works my Simplicity Deluxe Felting machine, however the machine starts running just by turning the on/off switch ie. without pushing on the foot pedal. I am happy to use it this way ie. Pedal -free and becausean embellisher has no threading and simply has needles that go up and down, so can't catch on anything. But can anyone tell me if this could possibly cause me an electric shock? I can't see how it would as I would not be exposed to any live wires or contacts? But would appreciate it if someone could clarify this for me. Thank you.

You have a machine that is NOT working properly, and this is a Safety Concern no matter what.
Even if you do not sustain an electric shock there is potential for a fire and damage to the machine.
Take it to a technician.

Mine does the exact same thing. I think the problem might lie in the cord to the foot pedal. The cord packs into the foot pedal for storage, which forces the cord to to remain bent during storage. I believe the wires in mind became damaged and broken so I took it apart and reconnected the wires at the spot where the connector meets with the wires. But I still don't leave it plugged in if I'm not using it, it could be a fire hazard.

SOURCE: I have a Kenmore sewing

Buy a new foot pedal for it, probably one of the electrical components inside the foot has failed.

There are Kenmore footcontrols for sale on www.sewingpartsonline.com. You could email them to check its right for your model if it isn't listed.

Obviously I'm assuming that you are in USA with 110 Voltage and that is what your machine is. If not and your country is 220V, you would need to source it from a reseller in your own country or another with the same voltage.

Make sure you're not in bobbin winding mode. The needle drive is disengaged when winding bobbin.

I have a Simplicity Deluxe 12 Felting machine. Foot pedal no longer works. Have tried everywhere for replacement. Can you advise me where to get one? or maybe a compatible sewing machine foot pedal?

Tough finding any information on this machine. I believe the single cord 3.5mm Brother is what you need but better call them and see what they say.

Check eBay. Search for sewing machine parts online. Or, go to a sewing repair shop and ask if they can find you a replacement.

Why does the foot peddle get hot?

Many sewing machine foot pedals are little more than a variable resistor. To run the motor at a slower speed much of the input power is wasted in the foot pedal in order to allow the motor to run slower. That wasted power comes out of the foot pedal as heat.
Newer foot controls are electronic and don't get hot.

You need purchase a foot control and a "motor and light block" to be able to control the speed of the machine. The machine plugs into the terminal marked motor on the motor and light block.
