I found an electronic sewing foot pedal that works my Simplicity Deluxe Felting machine, however the machine starts running just by turning the on/off switch ie. without pushing on the foot pedal. I am happy to use it this way ie. Pedal -free and becausean embellisher has no threading and simply has needles that go up and down, so can't catch on anything. But can anyone tell me if this could possibly cause me an electric shock? I can't see how it would as I would not be exposed to any live wires or contacts? But would appreciate it if someone could clarify this for me. Thank you.

sounds like the contact in the foot peddle has failed try a new peddle

Mine does the exact same thing. I think the problem might lie in the cord to the foot pedal. The cord packs into the foot pedal for storage, which forces the cord to to remain bent during storage. I believe the wires in mind became damaged and broken so I took it apart and reconnected the wires at the spot where the connector meets with the wires. But I still don't leave it plugged in if I'm not using it, it could be a fire hazard.

Buy a new foot pedal for it, probably one of the electrical components inside the foot has failed.
There are Kenmore footcontrols for sale on www.sewingpartsonline.com. You could email them to check its right for your model if it isn't listed.
Obviously I'm assuming that you are in USA with 110 Voltage and that is what your machine is. If not and your country is 220V, you would need to source it from a reseller in your own country or another with the same voltage.
try contacting a dealer of simplicity machines

Make sure you're not in bobbin winding mode. The needle drive is disengaged when winding bobbin.
