Mine too... exactly the same. Have checked the drive - fully functional. Have changed the power cord unit - no effect. Will not power up or show stand-by light. 29 months old, so 5 months out of warranty!

SOURCE: ESA Plasma PDP4294LV No video, sound

checked voltages meter set to AC referenced to chassis VA, VE, etc no voltages.
Do not try to measure voltages on the primary side of the power supply with a meter; you may damage the meter and cause new damage to the supply. There are switching frequencies somewhere between 50,000 - 100,000 Hz and possible voltage peaks of several hundred volts.

Checking AC is only useful before a diode bridge that converts incoming AC into raw DC that is then chopped at higher frequency into an approximate HF AC, coupled to the secondary, then tapped and connected to more diodes to produce DC, finally regulated and sent on its way.
Your plasma set uses some higher voltages that could have caused the cracking sound they heard but the DVD player didn't cause the problem directly; maybe just caused the HV for the display to surge for a moment.
You may have additional fuses on the secondary side of the supply. If test points are accessible there, check for DC voltages and be suspicious of any fuse or test point that measures nothing at all.
I can't tell you which voltages to expect since that varies from one design to another but you should find several lower voltages such as 5 VDC for logic circuits and perhaps a 12 V point. The plasma's HV could be produced from a separate board fed from the AC line or get its supply voltage from the main supply. There aren't many standards to rely on here.

The most likely semiconductor failure would be on the secondary side and diodes come in many different packages, many cylindrical, some in the TO-220 package with a metal flange and mounted on upright aluminum heatsinks. These will have only two leads and there will be some in the same package with three legs. The latter can also be checked statically but unless you know what kind of transistor or regulator (look about the same) you are measuring, you will not be able to ferret out a defective one with any luck.
While you have the set open, check for any dust bunnies that can act as sponges, collect moisture and create a discharge path for higher voltages.

SOURCE: Computer will not turn on. Possible power surge.

If the power supply is good then your motherboard must have gone bad during a surge.

Do not turn on. Power failure. Replaced all the electrolytic capacitors, but still does not work.

good day check if their is a stand by 5v voltage at the power supply and a light indicator on the front panel. now if no stand by voltage and indicator light the problem is with in only at power supply. check for shorted mosfet transistor and bad regulators. now if their is an stand by voltage but doesn't turn on check the inverter board and back light for shorted parts because the main board will not turn on. check also for bad processor. hope this will solved the problem thanks for consulting the fixya.

A friend gove me her lg plasma and ive plugged everything in and it hasnt even got a stand by light it has no remote

When no standby light the unit has a problem in the power supply circuit, you may need to first check the line fusee on the power supply to make sure its not blown. If the fuse is good then you may need to futher troubleshoot the power supply. All televisions have standby lights you just may not be visible because of a falty 5 volt stanby voltage..

It sounds like the battery is fried. Replace the battery, and purchase the appropriate charger. This should get you up and running again.

I have a LG 37lc2d and it suddenly turn off and wont come back on, the stand by lights doesnt turn on either. i was wondering if its just the power supply? or how can i troubleshoot this my self to see...

There is a fuse on the power supply close to where the A/C is connected to the board. If the fuse is blown, look at the board and see if there are any burned components and or swollen capacitors. If there are bad components, I would suggest getting a new board.
If the board looks OK, disconnect the connectors from the board but leave in the A/C connector (this way you can isolate the power supply board), replace the fuse, and power up the TV.
If the fuse pops after the power is applied to the unit, then the power supply is bad.
If the fuse is still good, then power off the TV, connect on the main board’s connections, and power up the TV.
If the fuse is still good, then power off the TV, connect the inverters, and power up the TV.
If the fuse blows now, then the inverters and or the panel are bad.
A working power supply will create 5vdc for the main board’s stand by source voltage. This can be found on the power supply at the main board’s connector and it is labeled in black text.
I hope this information helps you.
Good Luck.

obvious your power supply internal supply blown a fuse or in shut down mode due to short. I guess since you have a light the 5v supply is working but power supply makes many voltages to work your set properly probable at least 5 diffent voltages. one or more maybe shorted ...shutting down the power supply's higher voltages. it gonna take a tech to fix it. good luck
