Sony dhc-fl3 hi-fi component system the cd drawers will not open

IT IS NOT A COMPUTER IT IS A home hi-fi player
CD etc.
It is 20 years old today, find this at a garage sale dead? CD.

or make sure sleep timer in the HI_FI rig is turned off

It is possible the laser or other part of the CD player is faulty.These can stop working for no apparent reason at any time...

I had a Sony system that also refused to read the cleaning disc. I had experienced laser failure twice before on other equipment and hoped it hadn't happened again as the cost would be disproportionate. This also couldn't be accessed for manual cleaning and so I used a compressed airline and blew through every orifice with the drawer open and drawer closed.
I was lucky and the CD player was again able to read a disc again though a few months later it stopped working again for good. The repair cost would have been half as much again as a new system but I had the remarkable stroke of luck to find someone had put an identical model out for the garbage and so I changed the internals and have continued to enjoy my CD for the last few years, though it is again becoming temperamental.

Try changing the belts that control the cd mechanism. There is one belt on the bottom that drives the cd assembly and two smaller ones in the left and right of unit. One controls the cd eject function the other controls the cd selection option. This particular linear skate cd system needs to have its belts changed otherwise the motors won’t work the mechanism at all.

Check its sled motor. It is the motor that helps to spin the disc inside. If disc do not spin inside, check the voltage at the terminals of this motor. If it is alright, and comes near to 5VDC, the sled motor is damaged and have to be replaced. OK.

Disc Error you need to check the CD quality,condition ,& correct CD placement! There is a chance that the CD optic lens needs to be cleaned or replaced or CD lens motor mech. is bad & needs replacement!

This system is too old to support long play minidiscs, only systems with MDLP written on them or the HiMD systems will play and record mindiscs in long play mode.

The CD lens may need cleaning.
Try a 'wet' CD lens cleaner.
The laser PU may be low emision.

probably your laser is weak,if you're not qualified to open pls, visit nearest sony service center to have the laser replaced.
