How can I stop my BT Verver 450 handset stop beeping

go into the menu on the handset and find settings. scroll through the settings until you find the beep. be sure to turn it on and hit end.

Hi, If you press the button phone book button - Looks like a book symbol.
Whilst in a call the handset will show "Mute On" press the button again to unmute.

Resetting the base & handset/s on a BT Freelance XD5500:

Hold the Find button on the base unit until you get a double beep then
tap the Find button 7 times.
On the handset:
remove a battery
hold the menu key and refit the battery
screen says SW VERSION
press up arrow key until screen shows REGISTER CLEAR
press menu
press menu again and wait for OK to appear
remove a battery and refit

Registering the XD5500 handset.
Then register the handset to the base as follows:
Hold Find button on base unit until you get two beeps
On handset:
Press menu
Scroll to register
Press menu
Scroll to Register Base
Press menu
Press 1
Wait
When it says PIN ? Enter 0 0 0 0 (four zeros) and press menu.

Note:
If you have more than one handset then repeat registering the handset to the base for each subsequent handset/phone.


If this procedure fails to solve the issue, then you have a unit with a
fault and if it is less than a year since purchase the retailer should
change it for you.

I have this model of handset but as a triple. I get three beeps from the handsets if the batteries are low or flat.
Are your phones getting charged?

Try putting the base station into a different phone line/ socket if you have one.

if not - Try putting a corded phone on your phone line. Maybe there is something faulty with the socket, maybe there is no dial tone due to faulty wires?

on some phones the beep refers to a voice mail message that has been left on your answerphone which will be left at the BT server, you can dial 1571 to retrieve the message. The following worked when I had what appears to be the same problem. Solution :- Remove batteries, remove power connection, wait 30 minutes, re-connect power and replace batteries then press button on base until it beeps. Both handsets started continuous beeping which eventually stopped and everything was returned to normal. Admittdly this sounds almost identical to the process used by 'versailles' above, but at least it confirms that the technical info given by the BT Helpline does work

Registering a BT Freestyle 2200 handset
1. If there is a handset in the base remove it whilst you are registering the new handset.
2. Press and hold the PAGE button on the base for about 10 seconds until you hear a beep and the In Use light starts flashing.
3. On the handset to be registered, press and hold redial & CALLSd buttons together until display shows 65-.
4. Enter the base number. If this is a new handset then the base number is 1, the display shows 65-1 then PIN. which is normally 0000
5. Enter and registration starts. When the handset beeps and returns to standby registration is complete.
