SOURCE: need to replace the light

Hi Scotty

Just go for it man... The light is a pop assembly, so you will have to go in from the bottom to get access to it. Searched for a service manual to link to you, but not much out there. Do you have a multimeter to do a few DC checks?

I need a power lead

The power cord looks like this is a standard PC/Kettle power cord. Otherwise the connecting cables should be just standard phone cables. have a look at the image here..

I have a problem trying to install the dust cover to american audio tt 2400 turntable

For a man to accomplish such a demanding task, one needs at least two of the following:
  1. Super-human strength
  2. Set of working pliers, big enough
  3. Some form of vision protection, such as goggles, welding mask, ice-hockey helmet with visor etc.
  4. Patience
If you happen to have accumulated super-human strength somehow, please use your perk in a gentle fashion since the cover and the hinges are made of plastic. Applying maximum force in this delicate matter is utterly exaggerated. You will only break the plastic materials.
Otherwise do the following (which I also did):
  1. Grab the spring in one of your hands.
  2. Grab the pliers in another hand (preferably the one with more muscular perplexion).
  3. Snap one rotation of the spring so that you end up with a slightly shorter spring.
  4. Install the spring in the hole provided.
  5. Equip the spring with the foolish looking, very small plastic object.
  6. Try and push the spring - plastic object - combination down while pushing the hinge-part with the metal rod applied towards the hinge counterpart. If you fail, the plastic object will try to penetrate your sight-organs.
  7. Via trial - and - error, repeat above-mentioned steps until you achieve great success and your dust cover is in place. Use your patience skills.

I have two of these decks and they work well apart from when you touch the platter whilst mixing in songs, it makes a grinding noise and slows down. Please help.

You need to adjust the brake mechanism. It sounds like it needs to be tighter. Also, check to make sure the platter is on correctly.
