Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. One among it has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Pull up older posts. Akai is really made by Samsung----You might want to check with them or try to price and look for an ORIGINAL replacement remote--Universals are a pain as you have discovered and even if they program will be missing a number of key features the original remote had.

They are by no means "Universal" for programming or use.

I have had a look at the Curry's Partmaster website. The have a lot of Akai Remotes which seem to be priced around £14.99. You could take a look. If you still have the manual it might tell you the model number of the remote. For instance RC81024. The remotes on this site all have numbers like the above all starting with RC. If you find the remote number it will help chase down the correct remote.

I recently bought a used LCT2060 that had no remote. I figured my comcast cable remote would work without a problem but it didn't. So 3 universal remotes later I found my solution...a radio shack universal gamer remote. It controls up to 5 components plus your xbox360, playstation and pc. The price on sale was a mere 12.97, not bad if you ask me. Hope this helped. The code that worked for the Akai was 11676. Take care...

They sell a substitute remote. Sadly, it's somewhat expensive. It maybe cheaper to try a universal remote.
