I have a Magic Chef model MCBR1010W fridge/freeze and it's worked great for the past 2 years and now all of a sudden it isn't getting cold in the fridge or the freezer. It's running or trying but just not getting very cold. I've pulled it out to dust the back (but really there was nothing to dust as everything (the coils) are inside a panel) and make sure nothing was blocking anything but it didn't really help. What do I do?
Ummmmm dumb question but what is the thermo switch and where would I find it.Ummmmm dumb question but what is the thermo switch and where would I find it.

The fan is working fine so leave it alone. If you have an issue in the fridge section not being cold enough it is because the damper mechanism that directs cold air down there is not working properly. Go here for diagram and parts Search Over 2 1 Million Appliance Parts
Many times a freezer and/or refrigeratordo not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many otherthings that can go wrong.
If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing thencheck out the last two tips.
If your refrigerator is running but warm, then...
Check out these tips that I wrote about that... it is a great place to starttrouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then callinga repair person to do a simple thing for you...
do a total, 24hour,defrost,with the doors open,(loads of towels)this should melt all the ice you cant see/get at.DO NOT use hairdryers/scrappers as they only do the surface ice.Wash out/spray all vents/drains with clorine bleach.(clorine is a gas and the smell will not permeate food if left to vent naturally) then switch onto fast freeze, check door seals are tight all round(hot cloth will help mould them).hope all works well for you/please leave feedback.ta!
The solution to all of the above problems. Disconnect the blue wire from the timer and connect a wire from the white neutral to #1 pin on the timer. As shown the timer operates thru the defrost bimetal
On my three MC refrigerators over the last 30 years, this almost always meant the pipe that lets water into the icemaker is frozen. Sometimes it gets blocked (especially peas or corn). If it's frozen, use hot water and a turkey-baster type "sprayer". Do not use boiling water. If the freezer has been really active, you could have the plastic pipe in the back partly frozen, too. Be sure to shut off the water and be very very careful when moving the fridge. Some installers don't leave enough copper tubing to allow the fridge to be pulled all the way out. If the tubing gets crimped or broken, it's time to call a plumber.
The freeze-up pretty much always happened when the freezer was set too cold for the amount of food in it. When my kids were teenagers I had to unfreeze the line 2 or three times a year.
Ummmmm dumb question but what is the thermo switch and where would I find it.
