Try hooking the monitor up to another computer to see if the symptom remains the same if it does you might be needing a new monitor

if your using different graphics card or maybe use the onboard and check the power connector and wire throught the graphics if it is not loose.btw I have the same monitor as yours.

Check the cable and make sure it is plugged in securely at both the monitor and PC. If the cable is connected properly, then the problem must be in the monitor itself. You could try setting the input mode manually on the monitor - the default should be auto - you could set it to VGA or DVI whichever your case is and see if it helps.
SOURCE: Power Button on (BLUElight)and goes off again. No
This is most likely the power inverter board in the monitor - this is
common in many monitors. If it started taking longer and longer to
display an image, and the power light is blinking on-and-off, that's
most likely the problem.
You can confirm that it's actually the monitor and not your computer
or the cable by plugging in another monitor if you have one to try. If
it's under warranty, send it back, if not, there are inverter boards
for many common models of LCD monitors that are replaceable. The board
can run anywhere from $50 on up. Depending on how old your monitor is,
and how much you've invested into it, you may find it better to just
replace it with a gently used one from ebay.

Ahh the same thing has happened to my monitor! Mine unfortunately is 1 month over warranty. Apparently this is a common problem with this model!
Testimonial: "Excellent advise and many thanks. But it seems that this model does suffer some problems with this fault and LG knows it."

Usually answered in minutes!
great monitors are my bag. too...
first is age, always. 9 years old max"?
2nd is does it fail on 2nd PC does it?
if no then the PC is going dead or only to sleep mode as all DO OOBE.
as in turn off sleep in the PC and test.
did you look for self test modes in the OSD first, oops non. too old.
can we assume it is real DESKTOP?????????
did you turn on the PC first (no PC told)
then monitor last to see if the monitor brain will tell you (text errors) like no sync or sig?
why it failed,hummmmmmmmmmm
we can not guess what is bad here.
lacking the 2nd PC test or OSD tests.
at the least cut the problem in 1/2 with one simple act.
the power led tells you if it is in sleep mode per the manual. is LED dead or amber or what? for sure on PC side. powerbutton led color and if it flashes. amber is sleep as is blink,,, most times.
1" bad cable PC to monitor it bent pens or loose.
2: monitor plugged into wrong port on PC.
NO PC told nor if with 2nd port GPU card slot filled with GPU card and must use this port.
3: PC dead. monitor works on 2nd PC ok.
reading your manual there is no self test
on this 2012 monitor, and common then.
4: turn off ECO mode in OSD menu? yet
5: this monitor has 3 ports, vga, hdmi and DVI. did you select the one you are using first.?
6:do the fans spin in the PC
is the PC power lamp not amber? or dead.
first off , did the power light go dead on the PC or monitor.
all monitors made do that by design.
if the monitor sees the PC go dead. or
he PC goes to sleep mode
they all go to black screen, not really off
but only sleep mode.
this is by laws here in USA< called Energy star.
newer monitors even go to deeper sleep now (called lower carbon foot print mode)
and takes longer to wake up as door prize.
PCs as class love to fail for sleep mode
due to wrong GPU card drives
or the act of installing w10 on any wrong PCs gets you just that.
NO PC told at all and that makes help good nearly Impossible.
the answer is
that is normal (sleep)
or the PC cable or monitor are bad.
