SOURCE: ipod touch connector

Hello serafineb,

The Alpine Full Speed cable for the iPod supports the following versions:

Fourth generation iPod
Fifth generation iPod
iPod photo
iPod mini
iPod nano

According to their website it does not appear that Alpine currently has a cable for the iPod touch. They do, however, make a "generic" cable for most MP3 players that connects directly to the earphone jack. Although this would not allow you to control the iPod from your stereo's head unit, you should be able to connect the iPod touch via this cable to play music through your car stereo.

More information about the "generic" cable can be found here.

Best Regards,
Ken

SOURCE: After installing the alpine cde 9870 car stereo

In this situation 8 times out of 10 the problem is not with the radio, it's that there are factory amplifiers. Many cars have them, and most require a little work, or an adapter to get going. Tell me the year, make, and model of the car, and perhaps I can give you more info.

That's because the memory wire has not been connected to a permanent live supply.

There will be an ignition switched 12v supply and a memory wire. The first is yellow on many brands and the second is red, but you need to refer to your fitting manual to check or look directly at the wiring harness as the wires are often individually labelled.

Since they both take 12v some folks mistakenly think that they can just be piggy-backed to each other and feed from the same supply. They can, but only if it's to a permanent live feed but that then leaves the risk of the unit being left switched on when the car is parked and draining the battery.

Cracked LCD Touchscreen Panel

You can order LCD screen for around £130 from alpine but not sure how much the touch screen would cost. Another option is to buy a broken one that has a screen working. I have a similar problem but mine its a PCB (power board problem) everything else I suppose works. Now I am looking for an item like yours so I can get a board to repair my stereo. I am always on the net looking for one. I hope that info helps.

Ipod control?

You can purchase the KCA-420i and connect it to to the ai-net port behind the headunit. This will allow you to send signal from your ipod to your alpine headunit while still retaining your operating functions to the ipod. Can be purchased for about 10 bucks on ebay.

I have a CDE-9872 and it wont pick up my ipod touch

Add Alpine's optional "Full Speed" connection cable and you'll be able to use the CDE-9872 to control your iPod. -Crutchfields website

This is compatible with first and second generation iPods touch.
fyi- if you have a mini-stereo aux in jack on the deck you can connect a ipod touch compatible mini stereo cable to the earphone jack of your ipod.
