1) Make sure the Volume is not Muted.
A) Method 1:
Go to your system tray to the bottom right of your monitor screen. (Down where the time and date is)
Click on the Sound icon. (Looks like a speaker)
If you do not see the Sound (Audio) icon click on the small side arrow. The icon may be hidden.
Give it a second after you click. The Volume control is a slide control. The slider is slid UP to increase volume.
B) Method 2:
(Windows XP)
Click on Start
Click on Control Panel
Click on Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices
Click on Adjust the system volume
Under Device volume move the slider all the way to the right
(Also click in the box to the left of - Place volume icon in the taskbar - if it is not in your taskbar. Puts a green checkmark in the box)
Be sure to click on Apply, AND then on OK.
2) Volume is all the way up?
Then download, and install the Audio Driver.

Under the subheading - Tasks for Compaq Evo D510 Convertible Minitower,
click on - Download drivers and software
Now click on the Operating System your computer is using. I'm going to click on
Windows XP Home Edition to use as an example,
Scroll the page down until you see the bold heading - Driver - Audio, above the red banner.
Under the red banner click on - ADI SoundMax AC97 Integrated Digital Audio Driver
On the next page click on Download to the right of -
File name: sp27103.exe (14MB)
(Remember; The file name is sp27103.exe )
After you click on Download a small window will come up on the right,
Opening sp27103.exe
Click on Save File
Another small window will come up on the left.
The wording at the top of this window, tells you where the file will download to.
It may have Desktop, or My Documents, or Downloads, in the wording.
(Provided the computer you are using to download the file with, has WinXP on it.
WinVista, and Win7 are different )
Desktop: The file sp27103.exe will be on your desktop screen. (Next to a yellow folder icon)
My Documents: Click on Start, then on My Documents
Downloads: Click on Start, then on My Documents. DOUBLE-click on Downloads
When you see the file name, sp27103.exe, DOUBLE-click right on it.
The Installation Wizard will appear. Follow the easy instructions.
[ Essentially just click on Next, Next, and Finish, at the bottom of the windows ]
When finished close all windows, go back to your desktop screen.
Restart your computer.

Possibly a failed hard drive that you would need to replace - might want a technician to check for you and replace it if needed.
