Possibly a failed hard drive that you would need to replace - might want a technician to check for you and replace it if needed.

SOURCE: NO SOUND ON COMPAQ EVO D501 CMT

1) Make sure the Volume is not Muted.

A) Method 1:
Go to your system tray to the bottom right of your monitor screen. (Down where the time and date is)
Click on the Sound icon. (Looks like a speaker)
If you do not see the Sound (Audio) icon click on the small side arrow. The icon may be hidden.

Give it a second after you click. The Volume control is a slide control. The slider is slid UP to increase volume.

B) Method 2:
(Windows XP)

Click on Start
Click on Control Panel
Click on Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices

Click on Adjust the system volume
Under Device volume move the slider all the way to the right
(Also click in the box to the left of - Place volume icon in the taskbar - if it is not in your taskbar. Puts a green checkmark in the box)

Be sure to click on Apply, AND then on OK.

2) Volume is all the way up?
Then download, and install the Audio Driver.

If you use the IDE connector, there is no need for the analogue wires if you have a good quality sound card.
Don't forget to download the drivers for your OS.
Enjoy.

Is the power supply unit of compaq Evo W4000 could be replace by other brands?

This power supply is quote HP, "250 W Power Supply (PFC)". Almost any power supply will provide that much power. The problem is in a mini tower, the shape has to be matched and that limits you generally to the manufactures PS. Here is one that will replace yours. http://www.codemicro.com/store/product/243891002/New

If this answers your question, I'd appreciate 4 thumbs. I do this for fun and do not get paid.
