Let it cool down and see if it will restart. The brushes could be worn. Tap the motor while pressing the start button. If it goes, then that is what the problem is.

SOURCE: I have a small central pneumatic air compressor it

Most of the time the air flow rating for the air tools you are trying to use are rated higher than your unit, Check the lable on the tools and compare to your compressor, otherwise you have have some type of restriction in the air line or within the tool itself. Hope this helps.

Could be the bearing in the pully wheel rides on,,not the belt,,,While its running spray some belt dressing on belt to see if its the belt,,,while running get a can of wd-40 with long nosel attachment and spray the armeture that tures pully when you spray it if its the bearing it will stop makeing noise momentarly, than come back again than as you spray it it will stop as long as you spray. BE CAREFUL. Bearings wear out when old,,,like us!

Need part for central pnuematic 1.5 hp 6 gal air compressor

Central does not provide any parts.
Sometimes you can find generic parts to work (pressure switches, unloaders, gauges, etc)

My craftsman 3gal. compressor starts and run but no pressure is building up.it just keeps running and the gauge remains at 0 psi.

Is the petcock down below open or closed? If open, then screw it closed. Also, is the compressor portion connected to the motor working as it should? As the motor reciprocates, it should operate the compressor piston that pumps air pressure into the tank. Maybe something is broken there.

1 hp 3gal craftsman compressor will only build up to 20lbs pressure in tank. how much compression should single cyl have on compression stroke?

A piston in any engine should be around 100 psi I would guess. A Chevy 350 used to be around 150 psi. An air compressor that only pumps enough air to reach 20psi is obviously too low on compression. Nailers and the like need 80 or more psi. The intake valves may be shot, the unloader might be stuck or piston rings are worn.

Hi I have a Central Pneumatic model 94667 air compressor that was working fine, now it will not shut off when it gets to the usual shut off pressure. thanks. George.

make sure it is actually achieving full shutoff pressure. I had the same compressor and had a valve crack and the compressor would run nonstop but never got above about 40 psi.

Air compressor switch

That means that when the switch is turned on , and the complessor is pluged into a power outlet, the electric motor will start when the air pressure in the tank drops below 80 psi.and the motor will stop when the pressure reaches 100 psi.
