How do I oil my viking sewing machine? I have barely used it in the 10 years I have owned it, so I don't want to pay for a full tune-up. I'm sure it's linty and gummy inside.

The Designer II should not be oiled by the user. As with most computerized sewing machines, it's got a sealed bearing system. You do need to clean the bobbin area and the space under the bobbin case. See page 65 of the user manual to open stitch plate to clean the bobbin area and feed dogs. Next remove bobbin case holder and bobbin case to clean under there. Sometimes the interdental brushes can get some of the lint that the sewing machine brush misses.

The manual for the Husqvarna Viking Designer II is available on the product page: http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/en-US/Machines/DESIGNER-II . The current link to the manual is http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/getattachment/Machines/DESIGNER-II/Designer-II.pdf.aspx .

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: I need the driver installation for my reader/writer d-card

Drivers are on the installation disk. 3D will have it on cd#1 and 4D on the dvd. With the disk in the drive, plug the dCard reader/writer in and use the "add new hardware" wizard to allow the drivers to install automatically. Now,either repeat this for each usb port or remember to always plug in to the same port.

SOURCE: I have a Husqvarna Viking quilt 870 sewing

The overload message is usuall due to a bind in the mechanical function of the machine. When the motor has an extra "load" caused by something like a tight belt or dry bearing, it "overloads" the motor and the error message is displayed. It is doubtful your problem is computer related. Either way a trip to your service tech is required. If you continue to sew with it, you do run the risk of possible damage to some other parts of your machine. The computer portion of your Husqvarna is guaranteed for 5 years and the mechanical parts carry a 20 or 25 year guarantee depending on when you purchased your machine. A copy of your bill of sale from a Husqvarna Viking dealer or a stamped warranty card is the proof of purchase needed to obtain warranty replacement of parts. Labor is only guaranteed for 1 year.

SOURCE: Husqvarna Viking Designer I breaking needles

Dls8864's suggestion was a very good suggestion - make sure the metal stitch plate is pushed all the way to the back. Also make sure that the thread is feeding freely - if it is catching on something it can cause the needle to be pulled aside and make it break. Does the design fit properly inside the hoop you are using? If the foot and/or needle strike against the side of the hoop, that will cause a breakage. Is the bobbin thread okay - not making a bird's nest underneath?

Question about Necchi 537 FA

necchi's are good sewing machines, I personally own 2 necchi's,
and I've never had any problems with them and I've had them for around 10 years, here is what I suggest
use a new needle--one that is for the fabric your sewing
rethread the machine top and bobbin--use every thread guide
try a different bobbin
clean under the needle plate and in the bobbin area for lint
call a sewing machine repair shop in your area and ask them how
much a necchi sewing machine is worth or check on ebay and see
what they are selling for.
since you inherited the sewing machine,, having the machine
serviced completely would be a good idea, that way they can check
to see if the grease and oil that the gears and parts use is fresh or
needs to be replaced and it's very important the grease and oil are in
good condition.
and they can make sure the machine's is timed correctly
ask how much a tune up cost for a sewing machine and then
you'll have to decide if the price is what you want to pay.

also since the sewing machine is doing repeat loops from the bobbin
adjust the top thread tension just a little at a time till the stitch looks
normal on a scrap piece of fabric
if you don't have a manual on the sewing machine let me know & I'll try
to find you one.
I've been sewing for 30 years, and like I said I have 2 necchi's already
and I had one other one before these 2 that I have now and it lasted me
for around 15 years and I wore it out making clothes.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy or except another necchi because I know
they are good machines.
I have a mechanical and a electronic necchi and my husband uses the
electronic one when he makes quilts.
good luck on your decision

I have a Viking Mega Quilter. The bobbin thread is sewing properly for a few stitches and then does a loose stitch and then a few good stitches and a loose one again, etc.

Good day!!!

please apply a some oil on the motor and other moving parts inside you sewing machine..

After that reboot the machine and used it....first try is persisted but when you used it continuously for at least 10 minutes your machine is OK...

How to "tune-up" mechanical Kenmore sewing machine

Sure! Jenny at http://blog.sew-classic.com/categories/Sewing%20Machine%20Repair.aspx has several very good, in-depth articles about servicing your own machine, but here are the basic steps:

1. Take out the bobbin case and bobbin holder.
2. Take the needle plate off.
3. Brush out all the old lint in the bobbin area and under the needle plate. Remove any loose bit of thread.
4. Open the head of the machine (should swing open). Clean any lint or thread that's caught in there.
5. Locate your machine's oil ports and put one drop of sewing machine oil (only use sewing machine oil) in each of them. One drop is sufficient. General rule of thumb: Put one drop of oil wherever metal moves against metal.
6. Using unwaxed dental floss, floss the tension disks.
7. Put everything back together.

If you need a manual, I found one at http://pages.sewing-machine-manuals.com/173/InventoryPage/1834489/1.html.

Hope this is useful!

Viking d1 usb error "no disk insertered"

common error with d1 usb machines. You should only use Husqvarna Viking usb memory sticks. That being said, I have found a few that will work, i.e. Ativa 2gb and Office Depot 2gb. Try holding the stick firmly in place to make sure you have good contact. Wait 1 full minute after the machine is started before trying to access the usb stick. If these things do not work, it could be the usb port or the pc board. These parts have a 5 year warranty to the original purchaser. Contact your local authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer for service or to have machine sent to Husqvarna Viking (VSM) Technical Service Division for repair. List of dealers close to you can be found at the Husqvarna Viking website - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us Good luck!!

My hand wheel on my serger is super tight and is barely turning, and basically the machine is not working?

your machine needs servicing. make sure you oil all spots indicated in your user manual and turn handwhel by hand for a minute or so to work oil in.

if this doesn't make machine easy to turn see a tech for full service.

Husqvarna Viking Sewing Machine 6020 sews in reverse

It doesn't need a part for this repair. The reverse mechanism inside the machine is seized from old grease which has hardened. It should be seen by a technician so the part can be cleaned out. Don't be surprised if he finds a broken take up slide or a cracked pattern mechanism.
Get an estimate before you have any work done and ask about a warranty for the work they plan to do.It may be less expensive to buy a newer machine.

Machine stopped running, its getting power but wont run.

I would take it back to your service tech or choose another. It may be something simple that needs replacement, like a new cord. (or . . .)

Also, before thinking of buying a new machine, I would get another opinion.

Viking is skipping some stitches when it is on zigzag

These are great machines but after 25 years there are probably a lot of problems that need to be fixed. It could be as easy as buffing or replacing your needle plate. If you take it in for service (and can actually find someone who is good with this machine) you will probably pay $200 to $400 to get it back to 'factory' state.
