Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

SOURCE: I bought a camera on

Use a card reader instead of the camera and upload the pics to a folder you create on your desktop.

Error message usb ports force stopped because of too much power

It will still be covered by the warranty, take it to an apple repair centre, they will have Apple hardware diagnostics software that will be able to determine the cause of the fault. Worst case scenario will be they have to replace the logic board.

If you are using some sort of USB hub the number of devices you are connecting to that single port may be drawing too much power. Try to determine how much power each device is drawing then ask at an apple store how much power the USB port can supply.

When I connect my Canon PowerShot A3100 IS camera to either of two laptops via USB cable, I get an error message stating "USB Device Not Recognized - One of the USB devices attached to this computer...

I had this problem today and you might want to check this
from PC's menu = go to my computer right click and select properties
select device manager,
locate "canon camera" which may be under portable devices as mine was
There is either a plus or minus sign next to it. If it is negative as mine, delete this driver. Make sure your camera is off and unplugged before you delete it.
Plug camera in, turn on and the camera should download the driver again.
It worked for me - I'm not technically brilliant but basically, the driver wasn't working correctly.
If you can't find the same settings, call customer service - they were great.

Mine keeps saying "USB Over

The power adapter could be faulty.
If you get an error message"Insufficient power to operate USB device" when you plug a USB deviceinto the computer's USB port, then this device is drawing excessive currentthat the USB port cannot supply. In case such as this, youneed to purchased a powered USB hub and connect this hub into the computer'sUSB port and then connect the USB device into this powered USB hub.

Usb over current error 701

The USB port can only deliver aprox. 500mA. If your USB device such as a scanner etc. draws more current from the USB port then you will get this error message.
The solution is you use a powered USB device OR use a powered USB hub and connect this to the computer/laptop's USB port and then plug the USB device into the powered USB hub.

Can't get photos from MAC to load to Digital Photo Frame

To connect to a Macintosh computer:
1 Plug in and turn on the digital picture frame.

2 Connect the small end of the usb cable to the usb port on the side of the digital picture frame.

3 Connect the larger end of the usb cable to a USB port on your Macintosh computer. The Macintosh will recognize the digital picture frame as an external storage device, and an icon will appear representing the device.

4 Drag and drop your photos on to the icon...

5. After you finish, press the eject button, and disconnect the usb cable once the icon has dissappeared

If there is still a problem, try restarting the macbook. and make sure no other programs are running in the background that may interfere with the process. Also, make sure the laptop is plugged in, or the battery power is sufficient.

Hope this helps!

Drawing to much power over usb port

use a USB port on the back of the PC, not off a hub, or use a powered hub, It cant take more than 500mw of power per USB port, even though there are 2 ports, they may be off the same controller inside the pc. I use a powered hub and have not had that problem ever since. I had a webcam that drew 450 and no other device worked off that port.
