I've had that happen before and what I found was one of the Staples or nails had misfired and wedged before leaving the gun. read the manual on how to get to it for that particular model and also it might be a good idea to adjust your pressure accordingly to keep it from happening again. If the force isn't set proper then a nail could Jam , block the mouth and not allow any other nails to exit. It's very easy to do and not that hard to fix once you've done it at least once. Good luck.

SOURCE: flooring nailer tech support

couple of things there are o-rings inside that trigger assy. they are either pintched in or dry. next there could be internal rubber hoses inside the gun. might need replacing. lastly the hose or o-ring going to the back side of the ram is leaking or broken. here is what i would do. you sound pretty handy with your tools so i would get somewhere clean start taking the gun apart thouroghly noting where everything went and go untill you find the problem. but first i would shoot a couple of drops of oil into the air input on the gun then hook it up and fire a few off and see if it clears up, if not then start takeing it apart. I CAN NOT STRESS ENOUGH....DO THIS ON A CLEAN SERFACE WITH YOUR HAND CLEAN. i chased a leak around in a pnumatic hammer for 3 days all because it wasnt clean on the inside..

SOURCE: nail gun double fires

There is one main part that can be the cause of the problem.

The trigger. Check to see if there is anything out of the ordinary with this. There should be some moving components attached to the trigger itself. Is any part of the trigger touching the button in the body of the gun when safety is not depressed. If the lever on the trigger is pushing on the button, even a little bit, It will allow the gun to fire again and again.

SOURCE: brad nailer not firing nail...can hear brief air noise upon pulling the trigger

Porter cable makes a number of brad nailers (18 gauge) that very quickly suffer from the problem that you are having. You did not mention the model number of your gun but if it is one of these, (bn125a, bn200a, ns100a) kit # 60061 will fix the problem. It costs between 25 and 30 dollars. Google that part number or order from www.dewalt.com. Dewalt owns the porter cable brand. Before you order the kit, check that the driver blade is not bent and stuck. The driver should travel freely down the cylinder. When you install parts, use Danco silicone grease to lube (availabel at Lowes in the plumbing department) If your model # is different from those mentioned above, please email me and I will recommend a repair.

SOURCE: Stanley finsish nailer and air is leaking through the trigger as.

If the air is coming out the trigger it must be replaced. Depending on the model of gun you will have to replace the trigger assembly or various o-Rings. Find a Bostitch dealer in your area and they will supply the parts you require.

SOURCE: Senco 601 nailer shoots 2 nails each time the trigger is pulled.

the 601 had a design flaw, in the nose, where the nails hit as the are being pushed forward, the peice was made out of a peice of metal that was too soft, it wore down and that is where you get the double nail problem.

Senco offered a trade in, this was years ago, for a limited time and gave us credit towards new guns, which we gladly did

I have a Hitachi NR83A3 framing nail gun. It won't drive nails flush. Adjusting the depth screw from one extreme to the other doesn't appear to help or change the driven nail depth. Any ideas?

Easy to check. Remove nails from gun and connect to air supply. Using hard rubber pad or soft wood depress and hold trigger and push nailer safety against pad and hold there. The gun will fire but the driver will stay down until you pull back on the gun and relieve pressure on the safety foot. With driver down examine the tip of the driver. It should look square and should extend about 1/4 inch or more past the nose. If tip is broken replace driver. If lots of air is leaking past the nose during test, also replace the lower bumper. Good luck

I think it is leakin air thru the trigger what would cause that

If air is leaking from the trigger, check vinyl ball and oring on the white plastic firing pin. If air seems to leak from the plunger just in front of the trigger (with air connected and nails removed move plunger with finger and listen for change in sound), remove the head and pull out the cylinder. The outer oring to the plate around the cylinder is bad, however, clean the cylinder and lube with white grease. Good luck

My hitachi nail gun just fire one time and the piston stay out

This is most likely caused by the band (or o-rings) on the outside of the cylinder. It could be a trigger valve problem, but the fact that it doesn't come out until the trigger is pressed points to the cylinder rings.

NRA833AA model. air is leaking out of trigger valve & will not fire. require manual to check operation.

Here is a link to hitachi web site listing for your gun. Look at the bottom of the page for pdf files of parts lists and manual.

There are two areas around trigger that can leak air. Spray soapy water on trigger stem and/or plunger valve. If leak is at trigger stem check vinyl ball. If leak is at plunger valve, most likely worn or broken oring inside of gun. Remove head and pull outer ring to reveal two orings. A worn outer oring will cause leak at plunger. If orings are ok on outer ring, pull cylinder and check for scratches where orings contact. If scratched, sand with 400 grit paper untill smooth and repack gun with oring kit. Good luck.

I believe that the most popular roofing gun for professionals is the hitachi line of nailers. Hitachi guns are amoung the very few however that actually move the cylinder when fired instead of the headvalve. This is rather odd because it requires more moving parts. Your guns have a trigger pin/plunger (white plastic with small oring part # 878-121) that pushes on a urethane ball. This ball is potential cause of leaks. Make sure that the ball is perfect. Replace as needed. Most leaks around the trigger area are acutally coming from just in front of trigger which is plunger pushed by safety foot. Spray soapy water around trigger area and make sure where air is actually leaking. If leaking from safety foot plunder source of leak is actually orings inside of gun around cylinder. (usually oring part #876-161 that fits on the cylinder plate). Parts and parts lists are at www.toolpartsdirect.com. Good luck with your guns and post again if you have other question.

Trigger may be dirty, as an electrical switch the contacts can be intermittent. Also check to see if the safety plunger is set to correct depth and moving freely. Dirt can build up here......
