LG smart TV already WiFi. Can ethernet connect to another device as a router

I have LG42" tv connected to internet via it's own WiFi. Can I use the Ethernet RJ45 to connect internet to my security camera DVR which only has Ethernet connector? Tried all manner of IP addresses as gateway, DNS server etc. Seems like the TV only wants to talk to my router, but not let other devices pass information through it. Using pppoe from camera the camera just can't see the router. I am sure if I plugged a 20m cable into the router it would work. WiFi should work too. In the router Client list, the TV, chromecast and all of our computers and phones, etc are on the list, but never the (cacoon ALDI)! grrr! camera.

It is not going to work. Both wifi and ethernet are for internet connection only. Ethernet is much faster than wifi. Also there is possibility to damage tv by plugging ethernet cable which is connected device using POE (power over ethernet). You need to connect your dvr via hdmi, component or composite cable

Testimonial: "I have dvr and vga connected to 2 TVs. That works. pppoe is point-to-point-protocol. Not (P)ower https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=3&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiBzPuzkKHgAhVMeH0KHQWVD3gQFjACegQIBxAK&url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FPoint-to-Point_Protocol_over_Ethernet&usg=AOvVaw1e9b5PM8j071yPIsCD5iGe Ethernet can be used for connecting two devices, not just internet."

SOURCE: cannot connect my wifi laptop to the wireless router

If you use your original Win XP disks, there's a chance you now have XP SP1 (Service Pack 1). Make sure you've made all the necessary Windows Updates as working with WiFi networks was enhanced with XP SP2. Then you can try to find your wireless network and connect to it. If you had a secured network you'll need your previous network key (similar to a password, but without a username, the wireless key is needed to exchange data with the router) If you can't remember the settings on your Linksys you can reset it to factory settings with inserting something into the reset hole to press the hidden buton and holding it for several seconds until lights on the front flash. Then you HAVE to run the initial install procedure (find your CD and Quick Start sheet) because your router will be open and unsecured.

SOURCE: Can I use my router just as a Wireless router with a DSL .

i doubt it will work. most times the cable companies give you a modem/router all in one box. the problem is there in no inbound connection to recieve an internet signal other than the cable cord connection. with the dsl modem you will need a seperate router. they cost around $40-50 on avg

SOURCE: my lg smart tv suround bluray sytem tells me to go to youtube.com/activate with a code????

Further along with this issue: When I enter the account activation code from my LG in the box that asks for it. I get a screen that says among other things:

"YouTube TV is requesting permission to:
View your Google Wallet and make purchases on your behalf
Make purchases using your Google Wallet
Perform these operations when I'm not using the application"

Am I understanding correctly that YouTube wants to be able to use my credit cards on file with Google Wallet and buy things "on my behalf" and do so when I'm not using the application? What sort of things does YouTube want to buy for me without my knowledge? Can someone please help clarify this statement in the activation window. The way it is written now, I cannot and will not allow access to YouTube TV.

Thanks for your help.

My LG smart TV (60UH6035-UC) keeps dropping our streaming movies on Netflix. Do I need to replace the network card inside the TV? I've already replaced our router and modem.

moved you out of computers, its not.
why just do Netflix, there are like 1000 streaming sources online, now, try more, like vudu, hulu, amazon, or 1000 of free ones. endless. to try, in the LG app screen for players, see em?
did you speed test your unstated ISP connections?
did you try the TV using hard wired to router with ethernet cable.?
use wifi test last, wifi is problematic.
if wifi tv is far from router it will be slow.
if wifi is overloaded in your HOOD , then it will be slow.

own a PC, try it yet, connected wifi and for sure ethernet
see it or runs Netflix and say 5 others ok ?
run Inssider.exe program see of wifi is jammed up?

not once did you say wifi, and I bet it is.
we have a gigalan , ethernet jack in every room here.
I pulled all land line cables and switch them all to ethernet
so now if wifi goes NUTS, wired works.
btw, wired not one error in 2 years, not even that pesky buffering error, on Netflix.

gee even NEflix has speed test to see if HD mode even works.
for you.
if others in your home are tying up wifi gee, there you go.
wifi is shared resource,
good luck

Hello how do u access wireless to my tv wit the internet

There's a lot of missing information. Does your TV have wireless WiFi capability? If not, then there is no way to connect to the internet. Do you have a wireless router? Without this information containing makes and models, it's difficult to give a meaningful answer.

Are you doing sever updates my internet is fine in my other devices but on my tv the internet won’t connect fine this morning?

Hello Emily, The first thing you should do is make sure that if you connect via ethernet the cables are connected from both sides, and in case you connect via Wifi go to the TV settings, look for Network and verify that it is connected.
It is the same procedure for all Smart TVs.

I have a Westinghouse smart TV and I have the WiFi home but it is not connecting to the internet or netflix what must I do

Hi Samantha
Assuming that the WiFi is working around the house with other devices like iPhone / iPad and other computers?
The Westinghouse TV is just another device connecting to your Home Network via a WiFi Signal. Unless it uses a dedicated Ethernet Cable at the back of the set > to Modem Router Box.

So... the problem would require setting up the Westinghouse smart TV with the necessary settings.
Netflix is just a web site and will become available when the TV connects to your Network & External Internet GateWay.

First, you need to know your WiFi Name & Password.
I find it easier to use the iPhone as a test device to check the WiFi signal and set up details first. To Test Password etc.
There is a helpful tool on the App Store called iNet - Network Scanner - See Below
So... you must find the settings for Network on your smart tv.
Setting the tv for DHCP is allowing it to Automatically search for an internet connection. Thats what most people do.
Just choose your WiFi name (SSID) & Password.

But... you can choose your own IP addresses if you like to keep all your devices on a known address.
Eg. Your Router or Modem Box Gateway address 192.168.1.1
Each of the other devices have a unique address.
Computer 1 192.168.1.10
Computer 2 192.168.1.20
Camera 1 192.168.1.100
SmartPhone 192.168.1.130
You can use the end numbers between 1 & 255
Your Gateway might also use another IP Group e.g. 10.0.0.0
Your really only interested in making the last numbers different from each other.

Cheers

How can i get my smart tv to connect to the internet it is already connected to my wifi but when i click to connect to the internet it comes up no internet connection?

Check to see if your laptop or phone gets online via wifi to see if wifi is on the net, and try rebooting your wireless router by unplugging, then plugging in. (do not press "reset" button on router)

I was given Netflix (stream-in) for a gift, but can not get it to come onto our tv. Please help.

Your TV must be a 'smart' TV i.e. it should have software enabling it to connect to the internet and access features such as Netflix. If you don't have a 'smart' TV then you can purchase a set top box which can be connected to your TV and will allow you to access on-line services such as Netflix. If you have a 'smart' TV then you still need to connect it to your internet router, either with an Ethernet cable or via WiFi if the TV has WiFi built in (or you can buy a WiFi adapter for the TV). If you connect with an Ethernet cable then the TV will connect to your router (and internet) with no further setup. If you use WiFi then you will need to access the WiFi settings menu on the TV and configure the settings for your router.

I have a LG 47 inch Smart TV Mod No 47LM6200 TV. I connect to the TV to my Wi-Fi. My router is a new Netgear R6300. I am able to stream movies and YouTube videos to two or more laptops at the same time and...

I would try connecting a network cable to the TV and router directly. Sometimes the WiFi connection can be limited by interference or the conversion process. I personally for fixed devices use a direct physical connection and WiFi only for true mobile devices.
