We recently acquired a Canon DR 9080C Scanner and purchases and installed a SCSI card in an older HP Pavillion. The scanner works fine using the USB port, but when using the SCSI port I get an error when trying to scan a document using Adobe 6, Microsoft scanning and other programs. Because the machine was used I do not have the original software the scanner came up with I downloaded the drivers and some utilities from Canon's website, but cannot download Capture Perfect. Thanks for any help -Dan

I downloaded CP 2.3 and it did not resolve the problem, but thank you I will use this program for our scanning needs...The error comes up:

"Unable to communicate with HP scanning software. Please verify that it has been installed and is working properly. If the problem persists, please shut down your application and try again."

I get the message only when trying to scan through SCSI port. What am I missing...How can I eliminate HP scanning software safely?

    Thanks
    -Dan

CapturePerfect ver 3 is on chargeable basis! You can download ver 2.0 from http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0022439.asp?model= Though this is listed under Canon DR 5020, it works fine with DR 9080C. DR 9080C has very intelligent features and ver 2 works fine. I do not know if there are addl features with ver 3.0. I have used for scanning over 500,000 docs.

DR-9080c Isn't being detected via USB

Uninstall the device driver, restart the Comp and reinstall the software. If the scanner is not detected, try inserting any working device on the same USB port. if it detected, thee could be problem in the Scanner, if the new device is not detected, then it may be port problem.

Please try USB connectivity instead of SCSI. It is lot easier and unlike SCSI, there is no sequencing required. (With SCSI, you need to start the device before you start the Computer). You can switch on the scanner when you want!

First ensure that the SCSI card is installed properly. Download DR 5020 drivers from http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0000672.asp and install them. Use CapturePerfect ver 2 or 3 to scan documents. With SCSI based scanners/devices, one should power-on SCSI device first before starting the Computer.

Failure in initialization of Scanner. Scanner is offline or , scanner is turned off.

First check if the scanner is working in 'offline' mode by 'counting' a few pages.
Connect to the comp, if SCSI is the interface, you need to start the scanner first, if USB you can connect the scanner even after comp powering on. If the scanner is not recognised, reinstall driver software and scanning software.

First try this: change the usb cable, try another USB port on the computer and if it does not recognize any, you have changed a logic board.
May have to check if start equipment, add sheets to be scanned and press the green button it will scan? (not connected to the computer) if so, sensors and engine works.

Canon Dr-9080C scanner

to check the page count install the driver and setup the scanner as a "scanner device" on your computer. Once you have done that , go to the "control panel" than "scanners and printers". Right-click on the device that says "Cannon DR-9080C" and select "properties". The device information will appear, than select the "counter" tab on the information box; the scan count will be listed.

DR-6080 Scanner runs slow

What port are you using? May be you are using usb1.0 port. Use USB 2.0 port. Sometimes Changing USB cable would do the trick! Try SCSI if you have a card and SCSI cable, but this adds to the cost. All new comps come with USB 2.0. I had similar problem with 9080C and on changing to USB 2.0, it worked fine. Don't use USB & SCSI simultaneously.
