Finding power receptacle on emachines e15tr monitor

Power cord for monitors are really easy to get the first place I would go to is best buy

As you can see from the picture the power plug is a small round connector similar to an audio input. Power Connectors
look for a connector like the DC socket in the picture

You have three components which could be faulty: Computer, cable and monitor. Replace them one by one until you find out which one is giving you trouble:

1. Hook up a portable computer to the monitor, using the same cable
2. Same thing, only with a friend's cable that is known to work
3. Try using the cable to hook up a friend's computer and monitor
4. Take your monitor to your friend's house and see whether it works there
5. Try using any other source of image, check the back of your monitor to learn what else you can plug, other than a computer

Each combination you try will give you more information, until you have enough data to isolate the problem. It *could* be that your computer's resolution is not supported by the monitor, but I doubt it.

If its a flat screen monitor ?

Plug the computer's power cable firmly into a working AC outlet. Press the computer's power button.

Check the LEDs on the front of the computer case to confirm that the computer receives power. Plug the eMachines monitor's power cable into a working AC outlet. Press the monitor's power button. Check the LEDs on the front bezel or power button of the eMachines monitor to confirm that the monitor receives power. Orange or blinking LEDs indicate low power or no signal. Green LEDs denote a working connection.. Perform a monitor self-test. Switch off the monitor. Unplug the video cable from the monitor. Press the eMachines monitor's power button. An eMachines logo, Windows logo or "no signal" message indicates that the monitor is working properly. Plug the eMachines monitor's video cable into the video port on the computer. Attach the monitor's included DVI-to-VGA adapter to the monitor's VGA cable if your computer has a DVI port (15 or 25 pin-slots with 1 side slot) in place of a VGA port (15 pin-slots, no side slot). Press the eMachines monitor's input button to change the monitor's setting to match the computer port used. Set your monitor to DVI if connected to your computer's DVI port. Set your monitor to VGA if connected to your computer's VGA port. Connect the eMachines monitor to a known working computer with a known working video cable if the problem persists. Contact Gateway, eMachines manufacturer, if the monitor issue is not resolved. Hope this helps.

This sounds like a power issue. Check the power cord going to the monitor. Make sure it is fully plugged in. Make sure the receptacle is good and the wiring at that receptacle is tight and secure. Try another receptacle to be sure. Make sure the cord going from the computer to the monitor is secure and tight. You say this is a new computer. If so, then take it back where you bought it if you cannot find the problem.

Try to connect the monitor to the VGA-output port of some other desktop or notebook computer. If it does not work, then it needs repair or replacement. If the monitor still under warranty:
* standard 1-year warranty from Gateway
* extended warranty that you may have purchased from Gateway
* extended warranty that some credit-cards offer for items purchased with that card
* extended warranty that you may have purchased from the retailer

???

If not, it's probably cheaper to replace a 15" or 17" or 19" monitor
that it would be to try to repair it.

That monitor is a standard LCD screen that will work on just about any PC you attach it to. It will work fine on the PC you want to use it on.

It sounds as if you are missing the power cord for the monitor. If the cord did not come with your monitor/PC, you can pick one up at any Radio Shack or electronics store. If you could forward me your eMachine model number as well as the monitor model number, I will see if I can better solve this for you without you having to spend anymore money.

have you checked the cord and connection to the video card?also you could try resetting the bios.unplug the power cord on the pc.remove the batterie on the motherboard.power it back up.remove power cord again and replace batterie and restart pc.

If it has been ripped out of the back of the monitor, then you will need a new monitor. If it has an area in the back of the monitor where you can plug in one end of a power cord, then all you need is to buy you a cord that fits your monitor.
