System crash. hold down power button and volume buttons till logo comes on and then choose from menu. if no menu do the same and take one finger off on volume button and remove finger off power. warning though this can wipe the system and go back to factory setup.

It wont start, it freezes on the apple loading screen for about 5 min and then resets itself

Turn it off, then power on holding home and power at same time. Count 10 seconds, then release power while still holding home for another 10-20 seconds. The screen should go blank but if plugged into computer iTunes will see it as phone in DFU recovery mode. Restore from iTunes and you should be good to go.

Screen going blank and laptop freezes.

Go into the diplay properties, under the screen saver tab there is a button marked power, open this. Under one of the tabs there is a section that reads, when I close the lid, under this section set it as never.

Laptop boots up intermittently or screen freezes

basing on the information you have given here are the possible solutions:
remove any external device connected to your system (printer, external hard drive and others) if removing this does not work and still gets a blank screen with blinking cursor try to go to safe mode with networking. if successful try to download the driver for your video adapter.

when you try to start the computer , do get anything on the screen like a logo? when does the blank screen occurs, is it during the turning ON of the computer or during the windows xp logo appears on the screen?

a blank screen could be caused by the following: defective video adapter, corrupted video driver, defective memory, unknown device causing the issue like the hard drive, optical drive or other peripheral installed inside the computer.

try also using an external monitor
