That would be a shorted high voltage capacitor.

SOURCE: microwave blowing fuses when setting programme

suspect high tension diode or bleed diode faulty. easy to replace but!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BE CAREFUL. THERE ARE VERY HIGH VOLTAGES PRESENT IN A MICROWAVE. YOU MUST SHORT CIRCUIT THE CAPACITOR WITH A GOOD QUALITY SCREWDRIVER IE GOOD INSULATION. VOLTAGE CAN BE UP TO 1500 VOLTS AND IT CAN KILL.

IF YOU ARE NOT SURE WHAT TO DO, GET SOMEBODY IN

SOURCE: fuse

The Interlock Monitor Switch is an added
safety check on the Primary and
Secondary Interlock Switches. If the
Primary and Secondary Interlock Switches
allow the oven to operate with the door
open, the Monitor Switch will blow the
fuse.

You can get more information about adjuting the interlock switch from this link

http://136.166.4.200/contents/Microwave/LMVM1935xx/LMVM1935xx_Service_Manual.pdf

sections 7-11 thru 7-12 discuss the door interlock adjustment that will cause the 20A fuse to blow if it isn't set up right. I hope this helps you...

SOURCE: the knob on my profile

Yes that is the smart card that has failed inside the unit... it sounds like you are very handy for sure... hopefully you purchased the megatron from someone that will let you return it (assuming you have the original one still) and can purchase the smart card...

Thanks
Tim

MODELNUMBER R 930AK THISMICROWAVE BLOW A FUSE WHEN YOU HIT THE START BUTTON WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM

Is this the fuse inside the microwave or in the fuse panel for the house?

If its in the house, sounds like you have too much load on the line at the same time. If its the micro, check for the warranty, cause they aren't worth fixing unless its free.

Good Luck!

Is it possible to blow a fuse on a micro oven? And where would I change it?

There is a fuse found behind the upper grill, it is likely a 20amp fuse.
If the fuse has blown, it is likely that the door safety switches need to be replaced.
Change the fuse (unplug the micro first) and continue using. If the fuse blows again, have it serviced by a qualified service person.

My Emerson microwave is about 2 years old. I washed it just like I do every week and the power went out on it.

you mean it want power up or want work when you press the star buttom?
1. check the fuse if no power.

2. If it doesn't work when closing the door after setting timer it is the micro switch that the metal lach hits when the door close.

3. unpluge the micro wave unscew the scews to the cover of the microwave remove the cover. up front by the door you will see the micro switch maybe (brown,black,white,red/white ) what ever color it is disconet it take it to the hardware store buy a new one and replace it,themreasemble your micro wave.

Oven appears to function normally but doesn't cook at all.

With micro waves, this could be a number of things. They are hard to diagnose using this forum but I'll try. There are three things you can check. One being the thermal fuse. On some models, when it goes bad it put some things out. with others it puts every thing out.
if it's good, check the mag tube (Magnatron). Most of the time, it will be burned on the end if it's bad. tube. The last thing would be the fuse. It is made of ceramic and is a 20amp. It looks like a old round car fuse but it's not. It's made just for micro waves. Honestly, if the thermal fuse and the round 20 amp fuse is not the problem, you may be able to replace the micro wave cheaper than replacing the parts.
Thermal fuse $28.99.
Round 20amp fuse $1.53
Transformer $100.00.
Mag tube $87.00
Capacitor $45.00
Go to www.appliancepartspro.com and enter your model number. This will pull up every part in the micro wave and their prices. Then you will ba able to decide if you want to replace the parts. With yours being one that's built-in over the stove. These cost more and are worth putting more into. If I can help any more comment back and I'll do what I can.

Microwave lights up but no cook!

Magnetron of your Microwave oven may be defective. If there is a fuse between the highvoltage transformer and to the highvoltahe capacitor check the fuse is blown off. If so replace the fuse. If it is Ok change the Magnetron.

Wont turn on

If it blows the fuse as soon as you hit the START button, it's almost certainly a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it blows a few seconds after you hit the START button, it's probably the high-voltage transformer. You'll possibly also smell a faint electrical burning smell from the rear vent after you shut if off.

If it blows the fuse as soon as it's plugged in, you probably have a shorted door switch, a shorted varistor, or an internally exposed wire shorting to the chassis, etc.
