The main cause is the "anti flood" device at the bottom of the washer that detects a water leak "hose leak" etc. This device made up of a polystireen float and micro switch is a safety device and when activated puts the washer in pump out mode only. You need to look at the base of the washer and see if water leak has caused this. Rectify the cause "normaly hose or clamp" and this should clear the

How much soap do I need to add to a Hobart lx18h dishwasher. I know I need to add a little bit of soap to the machine however I cant seem to find out how much a little bit is

Hobart commercial machines are designed to run with commercial chemicals. There will either be an internal dispenser or an external unit supplied by the chemical supplier. Rinse aid is dispensed directly into the boiler. Detergent to the wash tank. The chemicals used are commercial strength so not required in the same quantity as domestics.

What type of detergent is used for a lx30c hobart undercounter dishwasher

What type of detergent is not necessarily important - anything intented for use in commercial dishwashers should be sufficient. A restaurant supply store should have something suitable for you.
Also, in case you don't already know, the LX30C is the non-booster-heater version of the LX30 (LX30H has a booster heater). Without a booster heater, you'll need to use chemical sanitizer. The LX30C should, hopefully, have a sanitizer pump installed to inject chemical sanitizer into the rinsewater stream. Most of these dishwashers also have a detergent pump to inject detergent into the wash tank and rinse aid pump for chemical rinse aid.
If present, these pumps are located in the bottom of the machine. Remove the lower front panel (2 screws) and look for the small, black plastic assemblies with 2 hoses connected to each.

Hey traboH - thanks and we do need to get a chemical supplier - but this machine does not have automatic dispensers - how else might I add soap? Thanks, robin879

It's acceptable to just pour the proper amount of detergent right into the unit every time you wash a load. However, there are two things to consider.

1. Without pumps, it is important to ensure that your final rinse temperature is, at minimum, 180 degrees for proper sanitation of your dishware. If you have a LXiGC, as you've indicated, you'll have trouble doing this because that unit does not have it's own booster heater to maintain such high temps. Usually, sterilization is achieved through the use of a chemical sanitizer, delivered via a pump during the rinse cycle, on that particular model.

2. Also, it will be impossible to properly deliver rinse aid (jet-dry) to the machine without pumps. This may lead to noticeable "spotting" of your glassware.

Adding pumps to the unit is an option I would seriously consider. Your most economical route would be to have your chemical company install their pumps externally. Your local Hobart office can offer you the addition of chemical pumps, as well, but you'll pay a premium price for them.

I'll add, if you do decide to get the pumps, insist that the proper ratio of chemical is being delivered (achieved via pump programming). It's not uncommon for the pumps to be improperly programmed and excessive amounts of chemicals consumed. These guys are, after all, in the chemical SALES business.

Hobart glasswasher: code E3, not working, not pulling rinse aid

The error you see is that the dishwashers chemical board (located on the back of the machine) isnt sensing the chemical.First thing to check is remove the lower front panel,2 philip screws. On the left you will see 2 pumps one on top of the other.

They may be marked (det and r/a),turn the dishwasher on these 2 pumps should run.If they dont your pump may be bad or the control board.Run a full cycle to make sure.

If they do run i would make sure the standpipe in the r/a bottle isnt kinked or the tubing.Let me know,i'm a hobart tech.
