I bought HP Pavilion dv5 6 months ago and fan not working
I bought HP Pavilion dv5 6 months ago few weeks ago the fan was spinning like mad as if there's a helicopter inside my laptop today i discovered my fan wasn't even functioning with some random shut downs too
Re: i bought HP Pavilion dv5 6 months ago and fan not...
Your cooling fan sounds to have went out, causing it to overheat and shut down.It also could be something in the fan stopping it from turning.Try cleaning it or blowing it out with it off.But it mostly sounds to have went out.

memory dump is the result of bad memory module (RAM).. remove the ram modules, look at them, make sure they are same make and part. different manufactures can often cause memory fault in a system
if that's the case, replace the memory modules . you can go to the link below and select the model you have, go to KEYWORD selection, and select MEMORY DIMM, it will then give you the part number you need to replace .
if you need more help, please don'thesitate to issue 4 thumbs and i will give you further details and cost of the modules. you can easily purchase at a link i will issue at that time.
If at all possible " do not try and clean the fan yourself " you will kill the m/board - take it to an auth Hp serice agent and get a new CPU heatsink assy & fan unit fitted. I work on Hp units all the time and I am always very carefull of the electrostatic conditions. Try and do it yourself and it will prove expensive. If you have warranty log a service call for a replacement heatsink Glenn
hmm, it's very possible that the new fan is unable to spin fast enough to draw enough heat away fast enough. I'm guessing that this a separate video card and not the onboard video of the motherboard? and, is it the video card fan that is making all the noise?
You could have overheating problem remove all plates from underneath that allows access to internals and blow out using a can of compressed air (from Radio Shack shop or similar) and ensure fan vent is clean and clear. then try it with all plates off if OK replace plates and try again. If still shuts down laptop requires stripping completely to clean
